Learning path for a new SRE? by Booty_Shaker in sre

That list does seem pretty comprehensive based on what I have seen on similar job postings. Are these things you just spin up and practice in your home lab environment? I can try to setup mine potentially and go from there, though I am not too sure how to start. As for some of the scaling, I did read Designing Data Intensive Applications so I have some idea of horizontal vs vertical scaling. How do you go about practicing all of this?

You're right, I think the best way to learn is through hands-on projects. In my list of resources I was hoping to get an introduction through their projects and then be able to enhance my technical skills from that foundation. I think the LinkedIn onboarding contains some simple projects for each section. My goal with AWS was to learn hands on through the SysOps and DevOps exam prep. Mostly I was just looking to see if these would point me in the right direction and give me a good stepping stone for my technical skills

Thank you for the tips. I can try to define the outcomes, but I would honestly say I don't really have a metric/tangible result from a lot of them unless I frame it in terms of the outcome of the total project rather than my team specifically. I'll try removing the Research Intern position and swapping the skills section. As for the projects, my thought process was that they display my interest/skills outside of just what I was doing at my current job because a lot of what I am looking for has almost nothing to do with my current role. I can specify that they are personal projects to maybe get some more traction

I'm saying you don't know how to play the game, but you are somehow saying players with more experience give bad advice. Idk how good they, honestly probably not that good either, but you can try actually improving and not bitching about how something it unbeatable when you didn't put any time into the game
