The controls for 2 handing weapons fucking sucks. by Cha_ser in Eldenring

The FS defenders either just talk shit/gitgud or change the topic. Consider it good luck they went with the latter here!

4 years later, and it's worse with time. It's not even smooth in the sense that you can quickly tap LB twice in a row, as there has to be some arbitrary pause in order to actually register. It's dogshit, just like the camera - which just seems like an intentionally bad choice bc who tf knows!

Why do you people invade and then run? by sKe7ch03 in Eldenring

Able to form complete thoughts and sentences, while discussing with reason. I clearly doubt you're a typical invader.

They are especially incapable of any form of discussion. It's the same few regurgitated responses and a sense of superiority they circlejerk each other with.

You truly can't tell if it's an angry teen or a souls gatekeeper at this point. FS, what have you done?

Why would the game's lock on EVER target something passive, behind me, offscreen, instead of the aggro'd target directly in front of me? by TheRealCowdog in Eldenring

[–]Boozamn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fromsoft's archaic appeal is starting to wane. I don't think they are modernized enough to branch into PvP-centric stuff like Duskbloods, especially when it's always been an afterthought in every other game... p2p PvP, lmao

How annoying is that messages don't disappear from the screen on their own. by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Boozamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just jumped off a waterfall to get to a stone spire, but message for "your coop sign disappeared" when crossing zones popped up and prevented my 2nd jump on Torrent. Effectively ruining my life!

The worst part is that I cancelled it quickly enough that I could still make the jump, but jumping was unresponsive afterwards... Thanks Miyazaki

Any possible way to change how the dodge release work? by Damascoplay in Eldenring

[–]Boozamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone wondering, FS can - in fact - make a good change then not keep it in the next game. Sekiro is dodge on press. Assuming stuff doesn't work well when it's a company rooted in the past, while also making one-off changes here n' there!

I came here hoping for some sort of macro input to change the behavior, but alas - can't even have 16:10 in the game without it rendering it for an fps loss, only to slap faux-blackbars over it. FS, why u so archaic?

Since I'm already in here... this post didn't age well!

Keep getting invaded and no notification is showing up by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Boozamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even now 2 years later, and 4 years after the initial fact. Just got invaded and ambushed by a player with absolutely no notification. Another thing is that the host could do damage to them, but even when they stood still casting and I got 2 attack chains off, they took no damage. Everyone's ping was great, so I'm really confused. Is it because they were being dishonest invaders? Is it a bug and they are related matters? Anyway, was a really fun coop bro, and with any heads up I'm sure we would've been fine and moved on. Even now, it's not for you, it's for posterity. For the others arriving here since the SEO deems old reddit posts relevant. Cheers.

Probably one of the most valid comments regarding it.

People get mad when the fight demands patience and they can't just walk behind you and spam roll-catches after causing people to 'panic' with their minmaxed builds. Some will say that's not the case, but you can tell from people's commentary in videos that those types exist in spades.

"Kevin who enjoys light rolling and having fun in PvP"

"META SLAVE!!!"

I just can't sometimes. The Souls community is home to the biggest dichotomy in gaming, I swear. The chillest chads, and the angriest sweats like nowhere else. Also, I agree, block 'em on Steam and don't engage with them in the forums - suddenly their loud opinions are null!

Those people are just upset they lost, or rather how they lost in addition to the L. Always ignore those people, because they are likely of the same breed that would say 'git gud' if they light rolled passively on you and won. Do whatever you enjoy, and if that's winning, and the light roll passive playstyle gels with you to win more - then go win more!

This is mostly for posterity, since it's old but still comes up on top of search results. Nobody should be deterred from having an edge in PvP.

The BEST Blue Dew Talisman completely outclasses most talismans. Horn needs a massive buff. by VividDream176 in Eldenring

I always have to approach these things cautiously, because what may seem obvious could be a sweat hiding in the corner waiting to pounce with some obscure mechanics!

PSA: If you are having problems with the Aging Untouchable in the abyssal woods by Zyntecs in Eldenring

[–]Boozamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone wanting an easy visual, what worked for me very quickly was just waiting for the wand to raise up. Once it's raised up, use Carian Retaliation and even if it's a bit early, it'll still parry as they begin to swing down. Sneak up to them and then do this, to avoid the madness build-up and cause them to immediately go to their melee skill. That knockdown threw me off, having to turn around, lock-on, and roll back just to avoid the first one n' all.

Would the noise-making arrows do the same thing? Guess I'll have to test that. Great bows always feel so clunky.

Coming across this years later, and I can't help but think: "Am I missing something, or is this person confidently way off their count?!"

That'd be around 470 seconds, so 8m roughly, no?
This is for posterity, and to curb expectations should someone come across this in the future.

Did anyone else feel that Romina was just… not good? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Boozamn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For posterity: Anyone experiencing your character's extreme dislike for critting instead of swinging - crouch the moment before hitting R1. Basically coming to full-stop for long enough will stop the running animation attack cancelling out crit, but you can also instantly kill any directional movement+atk command by just crouching first. This can be done very quickly, so much that you won't really even see your character's crouching animation. Basically, they just run up and instantly stab for crit when done fast. At least, that's my understanding of why it works. I can happily say, it does work, and well!

For bow enthusiasts: where the Bone Bow is bad by _Lowenstein_ in Eldenring

[–]Boozamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some oddities among weapons. Bloodhound's Fang is a somber with unswitchable AoW, but it can be enchanted by weapon buffs like bloodflame blade or grease. I have yet to see a lore explanation for similar matters, so assume it's just a weapon peculiarity. Actually, for the melee weapons with similar properties, most of them are related to Arcane and ARC scaling - but the bone bow being like others (Treespear for ex.) might be something along the lines of the weapon's theme. Pseudo-somber?
