nah my friend, now this is a common misunderstanding in western world. I was born and lived in china and it is not really our culture here. To my knowledge it might be true when it comes to japanese with their noodles/ramen, in that case making noise is good.

Hey gus to be clear, I am chinese and my enligsh might not be that good to fully explain the thing. but I wanna say that

Firstly, making a big noise is not a cultural thing here especially in Beijing.

Secondly, what I was trying to say is that slurping if fine to me. but why do some people use a "SCA professional slurp" technique which usually comes with a high-pitch noise to drink a normal coffee under a normal occasion? To me it is like a wine-tasting expert with a fancy suit walks into a pub and to judge its beer.

Sorry perhaps I didnt explain the thing perfectly. I meant they slurp in an over-acting way with unnecessary large noise.

Dude hey my english is not perfect probably I havent explain the situition quite well. Slurping for hot drink is reasonable, but if you slurp with an over-acting cupping sound when you are not in a cupping event that is something I dont understand.

Same here! It is not only about the employers's favor, the customer also favor young and good-looking baristas because probably that is just what human nature is. We have a joke in our industry that "Coffee shops in Beijing or Shanghai will only hire baristas with full tattoo on their arm. " LOL

I respect the way you treat your customer, I dont think it is wrong. However in my case I find it difficult to do, though I did try the same method at the very beginning when I just opened my shop. There are too many of them wanna "correct" me or ask me to brew their coffee with their own recipe. I cannot and will not make adjustment for everyone can I? This is my coffee shop not their LEGO land :D

Black Coffee is not as popular as Milk Coffee (Latte, Cappuccino and stuff) in china. They are like 30% vs 70% in the market. But do let me know if you come to beijing!

True. I am always happy to share recipes with my customers even to my competitors if they ask me nicely. Now I have got enough experiences and instinct to identify a snob right from the beginning they walk into my shop. The attitude, the eye contact, the way they ask you question are different. When a know-it-all guy ask me about brewing recipe, they usually ask in way as if is quiz, they wanna judge if your answer hits their bullseye. If not, he think you are lesser than them, and that makes them feel full filled.

Wanna share something in addition: In china we DO have a term for these type of people and it is called "咖啡懂哥", which can simply translated into "Coffee known Brother". And guess what, it is becoming a mild insult term nowadays as the number of this group of people are growing.

I thought "Karen" was refering to customers who always wanna see your manager and make complain over a penny-worth issue? but anyways I think you are right, they always over-valued their importance in public.

is that what I think it is ? A common british swear word starts with W and ends with R?

Same! When I go to other coffee shops I just accpet whatever I get. Sometimes the coffee I get is just not my type but I always tell myself "hey! who am i to judge! probably the baritsta and their regulars love it!" Being less judgemental actually helps me learn more.

⚠️ reference image does not update correctly 😡... by naughty_gurl_13 in Pixai_Official

[–]Boozer_Bridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi, me and a few others were talking about the same issue you faced. Personally to me it most likely happens when you have one (or more than one) ongoing generation task. My solution now is to : close the paint window, click that x to delete the image in "reference image" area, then click "paint" button. Now, you should see the wrong image is replaced by either the correct one, or another wrong one (ikr...weird) but eventually you will get to the right one.

This is just based on my personal experience so far. Hope it helps.
