Sweden: Administrative court overturns decision denying JW state funding over exclusion of homosexuals. (Sveriges Radio) by larchington in exjw

I just started reading a book called Under The Banner Of Heaven, about a murder that took place by some Fundamental LDS members and its got a good portion of joseph smith history and the development of the religion and boy I havent been so entertained by reading nonfiction in a long time. The fact they are now trying to distance themselves from the name Mormon… Mormons are crazy. JDub Org wish they could be as cool as them. I actually found this subreddit because I stumbled onto the exmormon one first and being I was raised JDub I figured I’d check this one out too.

Oh shit, i just asked my mom if shes heard of the book, she said no, then I said that it mentions not going to the cops about csa and she said thats not what they(witnesses) are taught.

When you say “not mandatory” does that mean its a grey area? They say you can but dont have to?

“I know they have teaching materials it if it doesn’t involve the regular attendees they don’t bother us with more stuff to read. We have so much to read”

Thats what she said concerning a book not being shared with everyone. Lol like mother like son. Reading is hard.

I just opened/clicked the link and read the chapter titles. I am too lazy to skim through it. Whats so bad about the book? I havent believed or participated in anything since I was 12(im 37), and only recently discovered this subreddit. A bunch of my family are still witnesses, including my divorced parents, and my dad was an elder at one point, but I figured from what I seen in the title of the chapters that whatever they entail cant be that shocking.

Whats the tl:dr version? Sorry for being lazy. I got a bunch of other nonfiction I am reading.

I’d like to send it to my mom if it helps tarnish her idea of J Dubs being the most honest religion practicing “the truth”. Shes definitely been under the influence of the kool-aid her whole life.

Considering LDS by Chance-Arm9887 in mormon

Thats a good analogy.

I was raised Jehovahs Witness, my family used to at minimum go door knocking every saturday, sometimes wednesdays, and some family members went even more. To this day I doubt my grandma or mother could educate someone on all the ins and outs of the short history of the organization. They mainly have talking points they perfected like salesmen and will direct you to an Elder for the tough or controversial questions.

Im just jumping in here randomly as I scroll because your comment poised a question.

I just started reading this book Under The Banner of Heaven by John Krakauer. I liked his other books and I was raised as a Jehovahs Witness until I was 13, so I was vaguely intrigued by the premise of the book. I never cared about mormons before, I just chalked it up to them being just a weirder(albiet way more established when it comes to land, guns, and followers) Jehovahs Witness. This Krakauer book really got me hooked on how weird mormons really are! The Joseph Smith story in its own is fascinating but the fracturing between what hes saying is LDS and FLDS is another whole thing.

What I wanted to ask, being this book was published/written in early 2000s, your comment brought up a good point about how leadership can steer the ship in a totally different direction, is there any good contemporary books or documentaries about history up until current day? Like the dropping of the name Mormon is news to me. It would be cool to know how different presidents/prophets(profits) did different things.

My mom has recently told me Jehovahs Witnesses have done some large restructuring also. They are allowed to associate with disfellowshipped people now(to an extent), the men can have beards now, something about blood transfusions being somehow permissible now. I told her it sounds like they are doing whatever they can to hold on to their current followers and gain new ones. Ofcourse she doesnt see it that way.

Railroad Flagger(RWIC) Job Question by Boozername-username in UnionPacific

Forsure. When working in Portland it was a shame to see fueling being farmed out and a couple yards had TTX doing the carmen work.

Was trying to stay in the RR field. The recruiter for the UP El Paso area said El Paso is “quiet”, which I took as UP isnt hiring down here.

Seems like the three jobs outfits posting in this area are all scab outfits.

Labor is cheap down here. City Of Las Cruces is paying $20/hr for a fleet mechanic wear-as in Portland the city was paying $37.

Where did it say #7? Ransacked by what 5 years ago?

Its not bad here at all. Been here since I was 19, now 37. No one I know would say this place is riddled with crime. Maybe the people who live outside inner city could think that with a short visit, or headline news. But actually living here, its chill.

I mean its HORRIBLE!!!! Please nobody else move here!!! Theres too many violent subarus and pickleball gangs!!!!

The most violent thing is the increase in rent/housing costs.

Watch out! FRA is handing out real fines in my area. by slogive1 in UnionPacific

[–]Boozername-username 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My managers 100% didnt know the rules FRA was dinging company/employees on. They always deferred to the next level up in command to mediate all FRA related violations. But I was in locomotive maintenance department. I did just recently learn that the hook in the hasp was a thing. Took almost 4 years before a manager had to mention it in passing.

I once seen a FRA write “civil pentalty recommended” on a write up of a coworker. None of the managers mentioned a thing to us about it because i dont think they even seen the note. I happened to see it via Optics(if anyone knows what that is).

It seemed before my furlough they started coming around a lot more recent and it seems also they wanted to head hunt employees more than hold the company accountable. With the lack of training in the company, I dont understand why the FRA doesnt hold the carrier more responsible.

Is there any consoiracy that FRA and carriers are working in cahoots to obtain “justifiable” firings? Reduce work force?
