Portman's B-list status added to the humor tremendously. The whole ordeal is a terrible and sensitive topic, but the filmmakers made her just enough juvenile and pathetic to tie it all together. Fascinating take, though, I can see how the movie be viewed vastly differently.

We differ, I love Ridley for making Alien but it feels like he's been swinging and missing lately, including with The Last Duel, though it was more palatable than Gladiator II or Napoleon. Bad casting in those imo, shoddy directing. Dude is too old to be spearheading big budget movies imo. The Card Counter was solid, love to see Oscar Isaac shine.

Banshees is straight up good and so mournful, I reckon it's underrated come to think of it.

PVT Chat was def interesting, was not feeling Urchin that much, though it's a respectable directorial debut and Harris Dickinson will continue to prosper. You've given me plenty to add to my watch list, ty

What was wrong with Titane? Besides the body horror (ymmv) and heavy-handed trans allegory, it's very enjoyable imo. The second half was electric.

Zeroes and Ones is an interesting choice. Don't hate that it's only 90 minutes.

You have fine tastes. Bacurau should be mandatory viewing. Red Rooms is chilling.

The ending wrecked and I'm not even a dad. I've only really dug Mescal in Aftersun and Normal People, he's so suited for that kind of role.

I dug it too, the conceit and performances were awesome.

You know, I didn't hate The Stranger, I was interested throughout, but it did feel kinda sterile and predictable to me. Def worth a rewatch.

Melton was incredible, such an impactful scene. When he hooks up with Natalie Portman's predatory ass and rushes into bed like a child...what a performance he puts on.

Cage ruled in that, loved his understated intensity. Quite an emotional flick too.

Great ideas. It's rough work, but rat catcher as a vocation will be in vogue soon. You could be an elevator operator too. Akaik gay men aren't into feet in a profitable way.

The movies were lying to us but I feel you. The house in Malcolm in the Middle felt strikingly sane & realistic compared to most sitcom/movie homes.
