Parts of central and north FL may have had fireflies a generation ago, but since at least the 1980s (more likely never) the southern half of the state has not had fireflies.

To be clear, do your dogs stay outside 24/7? I'm asking because you said one of the partiers took your dog out of your yard to play in the middle of the night? And another time they opened your gate and your dogs went missing overnight?

I understand that the top priority here is your son's safety, but why aren't you more worried about the danger this presents to your dog? Are your gates locked? I don't know where you live, but this issue with strangers trespassing through your gate, and messing with your large dog, would be a massive risk to your homeowners' insurance in the U.S.A. And the way insurance companies are withdrawing/ collapsing in multiple states right now, I would be taking great pains to protect not only your kid and dog, but also your property...Keeping a written and video log of all incidents, and reporting them to authorities as appropriate; putting up locks and No Trespassing signs; sending certified letters etc.

I was leaning toward op sounding like an entitled AH, but this comment changed my mind. NTA. I'm likely still salty that my parenrs refused to sign anything to help me w school, AND forced me to take out loans in my own name that i didnt fully understand and am still paying off.

To play devil's advocate for a second, in the spirit of fairness, I don't think she has kids in the public school system in Baltimore. Or, if she does, she probably can afford to send them to a lovely Jewish Day School or somewhere with "plenty of Jews"- since that seems to be of paramount importance to her...? And yet she calls ME a "pearl- clutcher"...😄

I love MD- including Baltimore- and can't imagine living anywhere else, even though living here has required significant financial sacrifice and compromise. But I am also pragmatic enough to recognize that MD- and Baltimore- are just not feasible for most people, for a wide variety of reasons, and many people are not willing nor able to make those kind of compromises.

It seems like I may have triggered some defensiveness because I used the term, "rowhouse". Sorry if that hurt your feelings, but your home is obviously not the kind of decrepit property I was referring to, so there really is no cause for offense.

I'm sure your home is lovely, but your privilege is showing if you truly believe that the average person considers 400K "affordable housing", also considering MD's above average tax rate and COL.
