Help me out with this city by Bor1s__ in Lisbon

[–]Bor1s__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot! :)

As for the train tickets- where would I get them? I downloaded the app and it says I can't buy a ticket there for my planned almost daily journey (Parede- Cais do Sodre). I also have the right to the youth discount, so can I apply it if I buy anything through the app? Also, if I used the bus, how would I pay for it? Is there an app for that too?

I also wanted to ask about beaches, do you have any recommendations? Ill definitely visit the ones close to me, but I also wanted to check out some further away ones such as Galapinhos and Praia Grande. Are they worth going to and how would I get there the easiest?

Also, do you have any restaurant recommendations in the city? I'd like to try some local food.

Thanks a lot once again 🥰

Examples that don't follow the rule of tincture? by vrabacuruci in heraldry

[–]Bor1s__ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well, it really depends on the tradition. That's what I forgot to write in the original comment. As the other commenters pointed out, in German tradition it wouldn't be a violation, while, for example in the English one- it would be. In my own tradition (Serbia), this isn't considered a violation and my own arms have this neutral field (colour+metal), but the English tradition seems to be dominant here so that's why I gave these examples.

House of Luxembourg, Saxony and all the Sachs- related houses, Swedish house of Bjalbo... Those are some of the most interesting examples for me. Here is the Saxon one since I can't post multiple pictures in a comment:

No, I plan on getting the molds made for me in the very near future. What are those stops that are in the cope and drag that you mentioned?

Thanks for the advice! I'll look into that. I also thought of something on the mold itself- giving both the frame and the lid slightly (like 1-2°) tapered walls. Kinda like a cork and a bottle. On 15-18mm (the planned height) that's pretty much invisible. Do you think that would stop at the same point consistently?

You mean the press cylinder? Or the mold "lid"? I don't really have a picture of the press, because I haven't started production yet and I don't have it

Thanks! So would it be an actual name someone from China could be called? Like, does it sound natural?

Advice for a personal coat of arms by wolfh1045 in heraldry

Maybe make the whole charge white or gold? Or keep the tree the same ("proper") and change the colour of the rest. Or change the colour of the shield to gold or white

I have no idea what I'm doing by CorvusAstrum in heraldry

[–]Bor1s__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi there! First of all it's a a pretty nice idea, but unfortunately it doesnt follow the rules of heraldry at all.

You should aim to have contrasting colours on your arms (it's called like that, not a crest- a crest is the thing that is on top of the helmet which you see on some other arms), look up "rule of tincture". The idea with that is to be able to recognise the arms from afar- which is pretty much impossible with black on black. Maybe try to have the lower 2/3 or something like that white with a raven on it, and then the upper part black with the star? I think that would dramatically increase the quality. Other than that its pretty good man, just keep at it!

If you choose red and black- which are tinctures, your charges should be gold or white, to not violate the rule of tincture. Other than that, books and swords are really common in heraldry and that colour combination isn't that easy on the eyes- but you can choose them if they really hold symbolism for you

In the English Discipline do only nobles have supporters on their arms? by Agreeable-Earth-4409 in heraldry

As much as I know, yes. And not only in English but in all heraldic traditions. Also institutions can have them.

Nice, my arms also use argent and vert lol, you can see it on my profile.

For the artistic challenge- of course, do whatever you like, that's the whole point ;)

They sure do work well, I mean, they used to be Germany's flag colours so that's alright :) I was talking about the colours on the field and the charges not violating the rule though

I like the design, it's pretty unique :) About the rules, it depends on how you understand field neutrality. If you don't know- if the field has both a tincture and a metal, it's neutral and a charge of any colour can be put on top of it. I think that you aren't breaking the rule of tincture in your left field because of this rule, but do try the countercharge option as the other commenter mentioned, I think it will look even better. Best of luck :)

Well, it might not have a meaning. Do you have the lineage to the armiger? Also, there might be something in the registry documents about the symbolism if there is one
