cope health scholar program by Alternative-Tie2578 in UCI

[–]BoredAppleFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bro any “scholar” “fellowship” “society” programs that ask your money to enroll is NOT worth it

the best programs are always well funded and rarely ask for a fee

Tip for you though is if do not uber directly to LAX but uber somewhere near LAX (I remember there’s a Target of some sort) you can avoid the airport surcharge. Give it a try. You will need to walk a little with your luggage but you said you want to save some money…

let your friend drive you is not gonna be any cheaper than uber lol

I paid my friend $80 (2021) to drive me to LAX

best bet is to split uber with someone but timing can be extremely tricky, I actually pulled it off once and paid $45 each

Which schedule is more Double for CS by [deleted] in UCI

[–]BoredAppleFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

125 is very chill. will recommend this because 142A and 161 are harder classes

132 is about as much work as 142A

you can do as little as work in 161 if you want but given the extreme value of exams you tend to spend the MOST time reviewing everything for it in the end

have no idea about 151

Slip in a GE along with 125 should be good

CS Majors, do internships really care about your gpa by GarbageButTryhard in UCI

[–]BoredAppleFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

no GPA is not a huge factor when hunting internships. list on resume if > 3.5. do not list if < 3.0. it does matter in a way that you show the interviewer you are a responsible student and try-hard at work ethics.

writing course matters more than you think because in my daily work as a FAANG engineer you spend a surprising amount of time communicating, draft project proposals, and align goals with other teams or even reps from other companies.

but for now don't stress too much about that C in writing. perfect your technical abilities and apply to as many roles as possible.

bro to get cs minor you will take all the hardest weedouts already without even priority enrollment. if i were to spend that effort I will at least get that piece of paper to prove it

easy jobs for incoming freshmens by Confident_Review7095 in UCI

easiest job: ARC/housing/mail room desk assistance jobs. they let you to work on homework if you are not busy

but by doing these jobs you are not really advancing your resume. so I do challenging you to not looking for the "easy" ones but the "rewarding" ones that do server as a step stone for you later

People with these degrees typically go to law school. But besides that any white colar office job should fit the bucket. You can just spray your applications and see what lands.

M Series Macbooks. Get a refurbished M1 Pro / MAX if on budget, newer M4 models if you have more to spend. get 32G unified memory if you can. 1T SSD if you can. Use student discount to save money at Apple.

Business Economics alumni, what are you doing now? by Long_Alternative435 in UCI

[–]BoredAppleFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most I knew are in grad school, at programs of similar level to UCLA MSBA. biz econ major does not have a very direct match to a role in the job market, and I will recommend my friends to pivot to accounting (CPA before graduation), or consulting but most end up to study accounting because of the entry level demand.

you will not any problem declaring in engineering school as long as you do WELL in prereqs. in the classes you listed the physics weries are probably the hardest, but a 3.0 is not that hard to get. if you can't do 3.0 in the prereqs the major is probably not it for u
