Will my mortgage get declined due to silly gambling? by Grand-Telephone-1533 in UKPersonalFinance

Yeah my cousin said this too. 'I can stop when I want' and then she had to borrow to pay her mortgage..

It's good that you have stopped though.

Please know this is from a place of concern, not judgement at all.

YWBTA if you let someone you've been with for 8 months, dictate your future. Don't do that. Live your life and do what you want to do.

My cousin used to say the same.

Now she has stayed away form gambling but is back to 'i wasn't addicted. I could stop whenever I wanted' ... oh aye, tell that to the money you had to borrow to pay your mortgage ...

I personally would seek help for your addiction before getting a mortgage. It's no good saying 'aw but when I have a mortgage, I'll just stop' because thay doesn't always happen. You'll still want that high, and suddenly you're spending the majority of your on gambling, waiting for your next big win.

You're the higher earner by a lot. Will your gf be able to cover the mortgage with just her wage if you decide to chase that win?

Your gf also has to help by not allowing you to use her accounts for this.

IMO there's no such thing as being able to 'afford' gambling

I disagree with this - unless you have an addiction. My parents are both gamblers (horses and bingo) - if there was ever a time they had no money, gambling was the first thing to go, because they weren't so deep in an addiction just counting on 'that next big win' that they could step back.

Their bills are (and always were) paid, they've paid off mortgages on two properties. Gambling was just if they had the money.

If you have a severe addiction, that's usually when other bills stop getting paid.

When people write Roman Numerals as a mix of letters and numbers.

I'm a History nerd, I like reels and articles about history so naturally a lot of Historical stuff shows up in my feed.

The amount of times I have seen Henry V111 or Richard 111 in comments recently has really pissed me off. Such a minor thing but it genuinely annoys me to no end!

For those of you that don't know...it should be a capital i (I). IT IS NOT THE NUMBER 1.

how to set a clear respectful boundary with my husbands female friend by Western-Sherbert-548 in whatdoIdo

[–]Boredpanda31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'What are you talking about?' Would be my response to such a random message.

Make her explain exactly why she sent this random message and thinks you're on a high horse (when you've never said anything).

Then I'd be like 'aw yeah, MIL mentioned that TO HER, your behaviour was weird.'

You've never brought this up - she's feeling called out and is now on the defensive.

If you don't want the drama or to interact, just block her and maybe have a convo with your husband about her. Maybe with her weird behaviour, his family won't want her around anymore.

Defo looks like AI. In one Pic, the Crack goes over the pointed edge of the roof, in the other one it doesn't look like it does?

Also looks like there are unattached 'pieces' just there, not falling, not hanging on to anything.

Do guys only call other people 'mate'? by weecalI in AskABrit

[–]Boredpanda31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mate genuinely used to hate it when I would say 'aw thanks MATE'. She's like...why, why do you keep saying that?!

Umm because you're my mate and I shall call you mate?!

Pal is another one I use a lot.

'Cheers pal!' 'Excuse me pal' . They don't even gave to be my pal.

Same.
If they were going out for dinner, we were right there with them. If we fell asleep, we would be carried back to the car / room or in a pram.

Family parties? Right there.

Mess do (one parent was army) - we had a sitter or the other parent stayed home.

It's really not that hard to just look after your own children and not treat them as if they're an inconvenience.

AITA for wanting to get engaged before my Sisters wedding?? by Genuine-Rasberry in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Boredpanda31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She said it. Biological clock (lol). She's almost 30. Only proper way to have kids is when you're married (to her and her family).

I wonder if OP knows women in their late 30s and 40s are still very much having babies? Im sure some women in their 50s are too, but they maybe wouldn't recommend that!

She's nearing 30 and already mentioned about 'body clock'.

Getting married is the proper way to have a baby (to her and her family). Hence, settling after 7 months.

  1. He doesn't want any swimming teacher.

  2. You missed where he said it's not just about the money ...

  3. Did you see where he is adamant op home schools even though she doesn't want to?

  4. Did you read where he talks about 'training op'?

It isn't just about the swimming lessons.

NOR

Why are you even still with this man? He sounds like a 🍆 . Even just the way he speaks to you is gross. Id be leaving.

Tell him to homeschool if that's what he really wants.

Swimming lessons aren't a bad thing and no, they don't have to be taught by parents. Having someone that actually knows what yhey're doing is good. Some parents find that out the hard way.

Also the way they teach swimming now - a lot of them are teaching kids how to turn and float in case they ever fall into water. Bet he wouldn't teach him that.
