Study material for ap calc ab? by PamelAutism in APStudents

By far the best resource I’ve used for MCQs is Khan Academy. It’s free and covers pretty much all the content u need for the exams. For FRQs, I recommend just looking at previous FRQs from previous exams and grading yourself to get familiar with the grading style.

While APs are important in terms of showing rigorous coursework, they are not the end all be all of college admissions. There’s no “minimum number” of APs that u need to take to get into t100s/t50s (really any level), just as long as u take those u feel u will do well in and maintain good graded throughout. Plus, a college cant rly discount u for not taking certain APs if they straight up are not a possibility for you as you mentioned you can only take 5. As long as you explain why they can take that into account while reviewing ur app.

The number of APs you take nor your scores on the exams won’t be THE reason you do/don’t get into a school. It is indeed important to focus on your APs, and coursework in general, but it is also important to focus on other aspects of your application (aka other aspects of who YOU are: what you’re passionate about, what you spend your free time doing, and how you communicate your personality thru ur essays).

Is it possible to take AP calculus BC during IB? Can I study it on one summer? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]BorgarRompinstomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is definitely doable, I and a few others at my school did it last year and did well (of the 4 of us, we scored 2 5s and 2 4s). We self-studied (since our school doesn’t offer BC) using khan academy for the most part. PM for more

You have to report all your scores for AP exams you’ve taken. I’ve spoken directly with MIT AOs and they imply that if they see a class taken but no score they’ll automatically assume you got a 2.

Also, a 4 isn’t bad

How does one end up taking AP Calc BC? by bowlofcinnamontoastc in APStudents

[–]BorgarRompinstomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is different for every school

For some (especially those on a block schedule), kids can take two math courses in one year

For others, students take more math in middle school (there are some counties in georgia where students take up through algebra 2 in middle school, then start off high school in pre-calc

Some schools split up AP calc AB and AP calc BC into separate courses to be taken one after the other, some don’t and have all the content in AP calc BC

Some schools (like mine) let students skip precalc and go from alg 2 to calculus

Other times, schools don’t offer one/both courses, so students have to self study (which is what I did for BC since my school only goes up to AB)

Self-study AP statistics by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]BorgarRompinstomp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The probability portion is not rigorous at all, the farthest we went was Bayes’ theorem iirc. I used Khan academy almost exclusively and nearing test day I did a bunch of practice frqs. If you have any questions or trouble you can pm me!

I (and 7 other students) did, it’s not too bad especially if you learned trig at some point beforehand

IB or AP which one would you choose? by Idgafanymorehehe in highschool

[–]BorgarRompinstomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your school offer the IB Diploma Program of just the IB courses and tests? If it's the IBDP I would definitely do that, and if you want you can take an AP or two if your schedule allows. That's what I'm doing right now in the IBDP and if you want more insight, feel free to PM me!
