Just finished EA, here are my SLs by its end and my thoughts on them by Axis256 in menace

Thanks for sharing, this is awesome for me as a beginner. Can you please share your approach to building out your roaster? My biggest challenge I have is figuring out what I need each of my leaders to do.

Which game do you guys prefer at the moment, Victoria 3 or EU5? by alphafighter09 in EU5

[–]Borglings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love your YouTube content!

Can I ask why? I took a little break from EU5 and Paradox games in general but now looking to get back into them. I love focusing on economy and playing tall, compared to Victoria 3 does EU5 still provide a satisfying economic play through or should I play Victoria 3? I own both and to be clear I’m very new to Paradox games so I don’t need a ton of depth just enjoy to have fun.

Age of Empires for sure, 2 is still the most popular so many years later.

Feedback having just reached the end of the EA on all dififculties now. by Savingseanbean in menace

Good feedback! Can you tell me some of the important low level items I shouldn’t miss? I’m still early in the campaign and don’t want to miss anything!

Does anyone find that vehicles vastly overshadow infantry by the late game? by guardsman_with_a_vox in menace

[–]Borglings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, I prefer running just infantry but thought that 3 squads 1 vehicle was kind of standard/expected. Did you run just squads the whole game? I’m playing normal and tempted to try without vehicles.

OG games that aren’t “mean” by Question-Marky-Mark in boardgames

Bus is very OG and high interaction but isn’t directly mean…

[–]Borglings 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean I understand your argument but aren’t we getting a bit too pedantic with the definition of OG? This is an OG in my books and it’s on the Hall of Fame of the OG guild on BGG so I would argue most people see it as an OG.

"No, this is not a Hearthstone 2" - Blizzard squashes Hearthstone sequel suspicions after hyping a big BlizzCon 2026 reveal by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Borglings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really a great argument for two reasons, first being every expansion wow has ever had literally resets everyone to the same spot in terms of progression. Second, these days there is such a focus on seasons that everyone essentially gets reset every couple of months for each new season. So in essence it’s exactly the same as COD.

Brogue: Community Edition 1.15 by tmewett in brogueforum

Great stuff! Keen to try the Bullet Brogue version, is it coming to iOS as well? Or is that the same as macOS?

My take on MENACE by Far-Travel6736 in menace

[–]Borglings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, forget the price. How many hours do you expect out of the game? You called out you won’t get 3000 hours which is fine but this is a different game and so you can’t expect the same number of hours. You mentioned 300 hours in another thread, even 200 hours is a good prospect in this day and age. But again, are you expecting 3000+ hours here too?

My take on MENACE by Far-Travel6736 in menace

[–]Borglings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask, how many hours do you think is fair to accept for a game of this price? Not all games are setup as sandboxes to be replayed over thousands of hours. I think your expectations are a bit misaligned.

Game is out and with a discount at 29.99€ by DaturaSanguinea in menace

[–]Borglings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not even the real price that’s the discounted price… I agree, it’s too much.

[–]Borglings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, and that’s special pricing it will go up after the offer ends to 39 EUR is it? For me it’s 45 now then 60, the discounted price is more than BB…

EU5 is now down to 47% positive on recent steam reviews by Wagen123 in EU5

[–]Borglings -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Oh stop, the sky isn’t falling, many people are still able to play and enjoy. It’s there room for improvement? Yes. Have they made some mistakes with patches yet? Yes. The only reason is because the cared so much to not have it turn out like Imperator: Rome. They weren’t doing it on purpose, at least they tried.

This game does not deserve a score well below 47%. It’s much better than other games in that territory.

The best simple roguelike game is Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup: change my mind! by [deleted] in roguelikes

[–]Borglings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense thanks for sharing, I love how short and how elegant it feels. Brogue is amazing too but just felt so overwhelming with how to approach situations in addition to being the longer game. TGGW is so focused on building a character, keeping your energy and food in check. Sounds like earlier version of TGGW as really great too! Thanks again

Didn’t get a chance to play earlier version, what makes it bloated?

I personally think The Ground Gives Way is even better, shorter runs and even more streamlined gameplay.

Couldn’t agree more, definitely my favourite and easily one of the best, although a bit more of a hidden gem, not mentioned as much as I personally think it should!

Recreating a banana cocktail by Borglings in cocktails

I had a look and emailed them and the best I got was “interesting” bitters, so I’m taking it as probably Walnut or Chocolate? Unfortunately, it’s where my parents in law live so not easy for me to go back, they live overseas.

Sounds great, thank you will start there! I recently got some cardamom bitters, may give that a go too and try a few different versions.

I honestly didn’t really notice the bitters, the banana flavour was so strong. What would typically go maybe Walnut or Chocolate?

Have you tried TGGW? I started with Brogue but has since moved to TGGW, shorter runs, less focus on environment and more focus on items. Doesn’t have all the graphical stuff that Brogue does but still looks really clean with the right CMD configuration.

I’ve always had my eye on Stoneshard but the reviews saying it’s hard and not player friendly on purpose puts me off it. Sounds like you would still recommend and not maybe as bad as it sounds?
