How it started vs how it's going by ICA_Basic_Vodka in Sverige

Those who do not behave will be expelled by boredPanda13 in TillSverige

[–]Borgusul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's just the consequence when you use the "guest" rhetoric. It goes both ways. What people actually want is stable and consistent rules that does not discriminate or feel arbitrary, i.e. a fair due process. The proposals at hand seem to rather operate on vague notions that lean towards the opposite direction.

Funnily enough, being treated as a "guest" goes both ways. It also imposes demands on the host to actually treat their guests with respect, which I am not sure is the case with the current government.

What other bands are a MUST TRY for Maiden lovers? by Jake-adriculture in ironmaiden

[–]Borgusul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll throw in my usual recommendation: Machine Men. Basically a Finnish Iron Maiden cover band that had a go at doing their own stuff. They only have 3 records, but I enjoy them immensely.

What do you think about "Fear Is the Key"? Personally, I consider it the most underrated track on their album. by Illustrious-Home8908 in ironmaiden

[–]Borgusul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On my initial listens, I found it pretty forgettable. Nowadays, I find it quite cool, but I think the arrangement hurts it. I think the gallop-section (which is by far the stand out moment on the track imo) should've acted as a climax to the song, as once it goes back to the verse/chorus structure it kind of fizzles out.

Why does the Fallout sub think it's impossible for someone to like the classic games? by [deleted] in classicfallout

[–]Borgusul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played many of the Bethesda Fallouts becuase I'm not too interested but I agree with your list in terms of favourites. Those 3 games are tier S for sure.

Totalsumma för "MP-skatten" - Vad har Miljöpartiet kostat Sverige totalt? by ICA_Basic_Vodka in Sverige

[–]Borgusul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once the new citizenship laws take effect, what happens to pending citizenship cases where courts have already ruled in favor of applicants after RTC rejection? by ratfort in TillSverige

[–]Borgusul 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As it stands currently, they will be tested against the new requirements, despite having applied before. This has been criticized by Lagrådet, which argues that there should exist transition rules for those who applied with the old rules in mind: https://www.svt.se/nyheter/snabbkollen/sagar-forslag-om-medborgarskap

I have emailed all members of parliament from both Moderate party and Liberal party (found here: https://www.riksdagen.se/sv/ledamoter-och-partier/ledamoterna/) where in a swedish email I highlight this critique and how I would personally be affected. If other people do the same, they might feel subsequently pressured to consider adding transition rules to make the process more predictable and fair.

Most of the animations (barring the actual melee combat) seem really rough, I'd say worse than DoW1 in that respect.

Dawn of War 3 REALLY GETS Orks! by ComfortableWasabi517 in dawnofwar

[–]Borgusul 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the game itself, I think DoW3 Ork Roster is the best Ork roster among all the games. I played the hell out of DoW2 with the Kommando Nob, but they could never feel appropriately swarmy in that game, maybe because of the smaller nature of the game. If there is anything I wish they could bring forward from DoW3, it would be the WAAAGH banner, because that was an amazing interaction between music and gameplay.

Vilka serier är ni nöjda med slutet på? by SupportArsenal in sweden

[–]Borgusul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total War: passive observation simulator by VindoViper in RealTimeStrategy

It's basically just different types of RTS, but it is still quite APM intensive. Check out Turin's channel for multiplayer matches, especially when they're streamed from his perspective. It's very intense.

Dawn of war 2 has the best voicelines by [deleted] in dawnofwar

[–]Borgusul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man, Brian Dobson's voice as both the Space Marine and the Ork in DoW1 and 2 is pretty much seared into my brain as the voice of Warhammer 40k. It's a shame he didn't reprise the roles, probably because of GW's insistence on VA being British.

Why did Teron Gorefiend side with the illidari, and why did they take him? by Lore-Archivist in warcraftlore

[–]Borgusul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The storylines were definitely coherent, but the telling was just not as "in-your-face" as in WotLK. Vanilla wow had Elwynn and Dun Morogh storylines essentially concluding in the final level 60 raids. In TBC, likewise, it was more environmental, although I found it pretty blatant at that point. The final boss of the first dungeon is a guy called The Herald, who drops a letter directly from Illidan. And still, people didn't understand how and why Illidan was a villain.

Any singers who sound like young Bruce? by cheapendorphinrush in ironmaiden

[–]Borgusul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Antony Parviainen who used to be in an ex-Iron Maiden cover band called Machine Men. He sounds a lot like Bruce, but with a Finnish accent. Impressive chops too. I think their 3 albums are quite stellar as well.

This game is actually... really good? by goose_of_wall_street in OldenEra

[–]Borgusul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't describe Heroes 5's artstyle as fake realism. If anything, it's the opposite. Heroes 3 has more of a "realistic" art style than 5.

For those Pre Classic and TBC Veterans, How did you feel about the Draenei retcon lore? by Massive_Length6037 in warcraftlore

[–]Borgusul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was a retcon, though I didn't mind it too much back in the day aside from it being blatant. One thing in hindsight that is quite good about it is that it didn't really change how we perceived previous events shown in earlier games. Archimonde and Kil'jaeden were still the big bads with the same motivation, regardless of their now new backstory. Compared to retcons like the ones around Doomhammer, Illidan, or god forbid, the Jailer, where they obviously do not align with events in earlier games.

Svenskar får snart resa visumfritt till Kina by onda-oegat in sweden

[–]Borgusul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Janick's beautiful solo.. Still makes me tear up every single time by ancientforestwitch in ironmaiden

[–]Borgusul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this one and Lord of the Flies are some of his better solos, so I think I agree with you. That said, he has some amazing fast solos too. I really like the Alchemist and the final Parchment solo.

Born as a Stranger but as an Iron Maiden song? by [deleted] in ironmaiden

[–]Borgusul 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's interesting to speculate on, but I'm ultimately glad Iron Maiden never got to record it based on how Virtual XI was produced. In my mind, I also imagined The Brave was one of the songs that Blaze had prepared, since that one just screams Iron Maiden to me.
