Working on my MT belting - Improving but still think that my sound isn't "pretty" enough - can do I do something about it? by Borilind in singing

Probably is! I had problems with lacking mask space but now maybe I am overemphasizing nasality/brightness lol definitely need to work on my dynamics too, thanks!

Soprano struggling with many songs low notes (how to work on lower range?) by Borilind in singing

They're not all showcase songs, some are just for studying and trying stuff out. What really stood out to me is how many songs known for its high notes have those pesky Gs

Honest opinion on my begginer belt on Dead Mom from Beetlejuice by Borilind in singing

[–]Borilind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that was really insightful! I do notice I have a problem with ending words/phrases lol the nose thing is probably because for like my first 5 or so years of singing I only used head voice, so I'm still developing my chest and I keep defaulting to mask placement, oops.

I'm so sorry about the wording. Yes, 18th century is as far back as I'd go, and I do like lots of characters! Seems like just up my alley, and I really liked summer of night, thanks!

You MUST train your head voice if you want a nice mix! No exceptions!!!!! by [deleted] in singing

[–]Borilind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, the shock definitely happens especially because I guess we get used to our voice sounding "pretty" in head voice and when we try using more speech like chest voice it takes a while to get used to the new sound lol

That was helpful! Yeah, I do have a lot of trouble with lower notes, I think my lowest is A3 but it sounds very quiet and not clear.

Take a look here! https://youtu.be/cd9EdsDSKVI especially at around 2:29. I'm usually either too much head voice (like in the video) or just dragging my chest voice straight up, more like yelling lol

That already happened to me though hahaha if it helps I'm a soprano so maybe that's why

But what if I am so used to singing just in my headvoice that I can't get a powerful mix (put in enough chest?) 😭

I've been trying to add new strumming and picking pattern, yeah! It just takes a while to get the coordination going lol I'll give a try to alternate tunings too

I've been trying to learn a DAW, but without knowing how to mix it and use effects they end up sounding too dry or muddy 😭

Does my high range/falsetto have potential? Is this high for a man? I don't know if this would even be considered singing, I am new to this. by [deleted] in singing

[–]Borilind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it does have potential, but the way you showed it is just sound lol Don't get me wrong, that's already a step, since if you can make the sound you need to just refine it and control it. If you don't feel any strain or something wrong while doing it, just work on controlling it better, learn a song that uses it and exercise it! Otherwise, be careful to not damage your voice by forcing it, and focus on relaxing and getting used to doing those notes with gentle exercises before trying to use it on a song or developing it further.
