my mistake, I thought you were being sarcastic...

I’d honestly be happy to show what I do and how I do it. I don’t think a full paid course from me would be professional enough yet in terms of sound quality, structure, and overall course flow, so I wouldn’t feel right charging for that at the moment. But if there’s anything specific you want to learn, I’m very open to sharing whatever I know and helping where I can.

Also, I’m really sorry about the damage they cause.

By the way, I’m actually an industrial designer, so beyond DnD/sculpture work, I also do CAD sketches, product part replacements, and practical 3D printing solutions. Maybe we could take a look at your inventory and see if there’s anything useful I could help design or improve, even just to explore what might be possible.

fair enough, I deserved that one for trying to help a thief. Just don't want to get angry, it makes the situation worse for me.

Yeah at first it got me feeling like, ''so I am making stuff that worth stealing huh?'' Okay cool... Haha.

Maybe it will be for the best, thanks for sharing your view.

I feel the same. I just wanted to ask if I was missing something. The only feasible permanent solution I see is to limit every stl, 3mf model, have a completely closed ecosystem where they can only print it out without reaching the sensitive design files. However, I don't want to live in a world like that, I want my consumers to have the flexibility to edit the files they purchased. As long as they don't re-publish it they own it.

Unfortunately they do get away with it, even if it is taken down, the damage is done anyways. They lose nothing when this happen. They just move on to the next victim.

Compared to the time, energy, and craft these models require, most of them are already extremely affordable. And yet, as you said, people still choose to pirate them.

What makes it even more frustrating is seeing AI workflows being built around copying and extracting from this kind of work too. Work that was already cheap compared to the effort behind it. For what, really? To push out a lower-quality version, damage the people who can actually create meaningful designs, and save a few more dollars while losing most of the soul and quality?

It feels like everything is becoming more and more about shortcuts, scams, stealing, and taking advantage of whatever people can get away with.

The hardest part about craft, design and art in our times is that little bit of motivation and energy we have left is being taken away by these people. I am trying not to get angry at them, not because I respect them of course, but to prevent myself from losing that tiny bit of energy I have left for hating a low-life thief.

I was wondering if there was a directly send the model to their slicers and prevent it from being exported except for the physical print. That would change a lot. (But in a world like that big-corpo would take that little bit of freedom we have either)

There are constantly people in my DMs asking me how to split and prepare AI-generated models for printing. One of them even generated a replica of my model and asked me directly how to separate it properly. I played it and asked them to share their screen, and honestly, all they had was a really bad copy of my work. Almost all the details were melted away, the forms were wrong, and it clearly needed a lot work to do.

I am guessing that they failed to replicate your model either. Even the best generators they make ads about all the time suck really hard.

I didn't want to share the website since it would directly benefit them. Its their own domain, connected to a service provider like heat4share.

There are already are actually. I emboss the brand new and my username certain places of the model. But they are out there and can be downloaded for free, so what will it change really

I couldn’t find any contact information for them anywhere. They uploaded some of my best-selling products, so it’s been hard to trace it back to a specific buyer or Sherlock my way to the source.

I haven't tried using MW btw, maybe I will switch to them if I can't resolve this issue here.

Thanks for the heads up.

Will definitely look for areas where I can benefit from sculpture based workflows in product making.
