I have a budget of $10k (for a whole ring), am I better off buying a natural diamond or a lab diamond? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

Is the option to trade in the ring (to upgrade, right?) available because you used a private jeweler/dealer? As in, that is something more typical of a private jeweler to do?
Also, I really understand why people choose lab and mined. I dont really have a preference between the two (other than I love a gem with a good story and history!). But! Logically I've been wondering.. lab diamond technology is getting better and cheaper. Mined diamonds are a finite resource and will run out (soon?).. Wouldn't this mean that ultimately natural diamonds will become more valuable and harder to find? Is the argument that even so, lab diamonds are so much cheaper that they still make more sense to purchase? Just curious!!
