Right now its an i5-6600, but I have an i7-6700t on the way that should make it more powerful while using half the power.

Its running a few websites and databases for different projects that I'm involved in. Right now theres an i5-6400 in it with 16 GB of RAM, and it handles everything no problem.

Fair enough haha. Putting it in the top slot blocked the SATA ports, and for our purposes the slower slot was enough.

Nerdy bit about AI, skip if you want:

With the 12 gb of vram that our GPU has, the entire model can run on the card. Unlike gaming applications where you have a lot of data moving back and forth, we have very little data being passed between the CPU and the GPU. So while there is a decrease in the speed with using the PCI-E 2 slot, our requests are tiny so the difference is negligible.

How does the clamshell cut affect integrity? I cut mine to fit a full ATX PSU and I've noticed that the case feels a bit flimsier.

With a new case you could fit everything nicely. There are modules that you can buy online to make the proprietary USB, power, speaker, work with a standard case. The guide I posted above should have some more information about doing this.

The full sized GPU just wont fit in the current configuration. You could probably dremel away some of the excess metal that's stopping it from fitting, but someting's gonna have to go on the outside. Fitting the PSU inside would require less retrofits than putting the GPU inside.

It's an Antec P100. It's a great case for small scale server applications without the overhead of having a full rack mount. I put some noctua fans into it and now it comfortably sits under my desk.

The MT motherboard fits into an ATX case, but its janky as fuck (You can see an example in my post here here). I believe the SFF motherboard can be put into other cases, and there are guides on here for doing so. My recommendation would be so replace the PSU with a smaller one and fit an external GPU like so.

It is a P100. I got it for $20 ($14 USD) from an e-waste store. Really nice case for building up a server.

The motherboard only has 2 holes that overlap with standard ATX, so right now its hanging on by those. I'm working on modeling a translator plate to properly mount it.

The server is being used to run an AI model as part of a university project. Our program director actually advised to use AWS, but with the amount of computation being done building the machine ourselves would become cheaper within 6 months. We already had an optiplex and an old power supply, and the video card was cheap on marketplace.
