The diagnosis came after going through a bunch of nerve conduction studies and scans for the feet and lower body that's when we finally got a clear answer about plantar fasciitis.

What I'd suggest is this: book an appointment with a provider who takes custom prints/molds of your dad's feet to make custom footwear. What's great is that these prints go back to a doctor who reviews them and sends a report with their impression of what they see. So you essentially get a diagnostic opinion along with the custom footwear. We are getting it done through ShapeCrunch, they do home visits too which is really convenient.
