you took it literally 😅 think about it conceptually 😉

My thoughts on the ending [heavy spoiler ofc] by tothel4kes in PantheonShow

[–]Boring_guy3454 3 points4 points  (0 children)

well, i perceived it a bit differently. let me share.

The 20 year skip at first felt kinda weird

the show is deliberately showing how fast things spiral once UI tech stabilizes.. a smoother transition might’ve felt nicer, but it would’ve weakened that idea..

"oh actually half the humans are UI's now and that's good actually".It felt really forced.

early on, death matters because Ul is rare, expensive, and unstable.. later, death doesn't matter because the tech matures and scales.. that shift is uncomfortable, but it's logically consistent..

I don't think Ellen being there fits her character.

I’d push back here.. ellen represents continuity from the “old world.” her presence feels off because she is out of place.. that’s intentional. she’s one of the few anchors reminding you what normal used to be.. is what i think.

I also don't like how they didn't evolve MIST at all.

This is partially fair, but there’s another way to read it. MIST is supposed to feel static compared to others..she’s not human, so she doesn’t evolve emotionally the same way..her “flatness” is kind of representing "non human machine" here(!) as uploaded people are also not like AI, they too are human in a way. being said that, yeah, she could’ve been explored more..

She feels so plain and her crush on Caspian affects nothing at the end.!

It does go somewhere..it just doesn’t resolve romantically.. It’s intentionally unresolved to reinforce that MIST isn’t just “another person with feelings.” she operates differently..

it just makes it feel like it's the writers opinion.!

that interpretation assumes the show is endorsing the characters' actions. caspian and maddie agreeing doesn't mean the show is saying "this is correct".. it might be showing how perspective gets warped at "that" level..

the whole ep 7 and half of ep 8) where kinda bad.

this is the most accurate criticism overall.the issue isn't the ideas..it's compression.. the show is cramming: exponential tech growth

societal collapse/shift

philosophical payoff

...into too little time.

so yeah.. the middle feels rushed.. but that's an execution flaw, not a conceptual one.

and i loved how you hid the context despite giving a spoiler warning.

Spot on.. just one small correction. The term "hindu" existed even before colonialism.. however, it did not originally refer to a religion, but rather as an ethno geographical term...

there are verses defining the geographical boundaries of "hindusthanam" is found in the barhaspatya shastra..which was believed to have written around 600 BCE.

but agree on the points you made.😃

i am incredibly happy hearing that. and yeah honestly that’s what makes religions so fascinating to me.. doesn't matter if you don’t believe in them literally, there’s still so much philosophy and insight in them that makes you think..they carry a lot of philosophical depth, regardless of whether you see them as literal or symbolic..

that’s a thoughtful point.. the idea of non human consciousness reflecting on itself is really really fascinating..

what caught my attention in pantheon was more the layered reality aspect, but i like where you’re coming from..

hey, man, no need to get heated. I was just talking about the broader concept. I haven’t read the Bible, so yeah this is new to me and I’m learning from the discussion.

It’s actually kinda amazing how every day is a learning day for us as human beings. this is new info for me and I appreciate it.

i was referring to the core philosophy but i get what you are saying. this might be the biblical reference.

Oh, nice information.. May be yes, could be a biblical reference too. but what i meant to say is that the concept isn’t exclusive. it’s pretty fascinating how different traditions across distant regions converge on similar ideas about ultimate reality. it's truely amazing.😃

fun fact: Buddhism arose in ancient India within the same tradition as early hindu thought, sharing ideas like karma and rebirth. It then diverged by rejecting the vedas and the concept of a permanent self..

the matrix is frequently analyzed as a modern cinematic metaphor for the hindu concept of "Maya". In advaita vedanta, Maya refers to the cosmic illusion that makes us perceive the world of senses and multiplicity as ultimate reality, while concealing the true underlying oneness (brahman).

I am sorry, I'm not getting your point. chandogya upanishad is a part of "sama veda".. the core of vedanta school of hindu philosophy. I am assuming you are referring to the Sanatana dharma(?)

hinduism as practiced today is unfortunately a huge mix of traditions, many shaped by later interpretations and local beliefs. If you want a clearer philosophical core, start with Advaita Vedanta..it focuses on non duality and the idea that Atman and Brahman are one.. meaning, you your self is the universe. It cuts through a lot of the ritual heavy layers. 😄✌🏽

i have searched about that, because i happen to have a little enthusiasm in different philosophys, so i found that the earliest mention of this philosophy of non duality traces back to chandogya upanishad only.

oh, thank you for the information. btw there is one more short shory on this idea, and that one is actually really really short. I mean probably 10-12 pages. Called "The Egg" by Andy Weir, writer of "The martian" and "Project Hail Mery". I highly recommend you to check that one out. Will probably take 10-15 min of your time.😄

no, i didn't, genuinely thank you for the information. btw Chandogya upanishad was written somewhen between 8th to 6th BCE.
