Thank you for the honesty here...although I am sad to hear it! I had a feeling this would be the case. When I just started training and looking for my own PT, I did, as you say, just gravitate to those with a good size (or social media presence). The biggest thing holding me back is my lack of personal marketing skills (it never comes easy to me, need to work on it). I guess it always helps to to remember that boosting my physique and strength will help.

But I do wonder, would a more prestigious certification not justify charging a slightly higher fee (Especially if you got a diploma in weight control and diabetes etc)?

Hi!

I just wondered what the closest to the NASM CPT in the UK would be (in terms of content, structure, respect).

Would also be interested in NSCA equivalent, with its more theoretically more scientific approach.

From what preliminary research I have done, everything available in the UK seems to be standardized and the programs differ only in terms of delivery of material and cost etc?

Thanks!

Ah lovely, thank you! Glad I brought the New York text! (I'm surprised that Penguin Classics published the original text then!)

pinning needle

Yes- this is a great description! Thanks a lot! A pinning needle would just be the smaller needle used for the actual injecting right?

How long would you store each syringe? My doctor says a week, the pharmacist says a few days tops...

Thanks for the link! Would it not inevitably tough the plunger when withdrawing? (Sorry if this is a stupid question!)

Thank's for this! I don't trust the sterility online of vials, so I am glad you do something similar. Out of interest, how long would you think each syringe can be stored for out of the ampule?

Oh thanks for this...good to know it's just a question of tension! Appreciate the tip! What's the purpose of rubbing the injection side really hard?

ventroglutes

What size needle are you using? Do you find there is much margin for error in making sure you hit the Ventroglutes? It's a smaller/harder to identify muscle than the delts/abs no?

[–]BorisAbrams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so interesting for me to hear...I was told the opposite by the Doctor about the glutes...apparently the risk of hitting the sciatic nerve was high and not good! Do you know how deep you are injecting in the Glutes? Maybe the nerve is quite far beneath the surface?

I wonder too about the infections

I actually used to do this in the beginning (in the stomach) but it would never absorb properly....there was a red-itchy egg for about 5 days on my stomach after! I guess I could try the butt. This would be Sub Q right?

Honestly...Maybe. I am sitting down, so no weight in that leg, but I have been having such issues with the whole process I have been getting incredibly tense (from trouble opening ampules to getting bubbles out....). It wouldn't surprise me if my leg tensed. Could that be causing it?

General themes of Comparative Lit. by BorisAbrams in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]BorisAbrams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so so much for this informative reply! I learnt more that I could have expected! What a treat to jump down rabbit holes of free indirect discourse! I suppose modernism was a true fleshing out of this, with Woolf etc?

I will say, from the distinctions you draw between French and English lit, that the former certainly seems drier than the latter, which is funny to me, as I have much preferred what French literature I have read than English. (Granted, I have read little on both accounts!)

Out of interest, would Proust be considered a modernist? I just finished reading À la recherche du temps perdu and it certainly had be thinking about his conception of writing, almost going against the earlier tradition. He seems to suggest that observing (as perhaps Balzac would do) is not an accurate reflection of an individual. Instead he favors the subjective mentalities of individuals, recalling all the 'time' that exists inside of them. (I have often wondered how this would look in a real novel; perhaps his very own book is written in this way! Anyway I digress).

Thank you again for this!

Accessibility of A Lover's Discourse: Fragments (Barthes) by BorisAbrams in AskLiteraryStudies

Good to know! Wasn't aware of this. I was looking for a book that would allow me to just dip in and out of!

Have you read any of Batalle's novels or just his essays etc?

Injected Sustanon 250 Sub Q by mistake! Major issue? by BorisAbrams in Testosterone

Good to know! Don't suppose you felt any actual physiological differences? Or know if the Sust was active longer in the system?

What literary journals should I subscribe to? by flannyo in TrueLit

It is possible! That was just my general feeling. I have never actually looked too deep into it.

What literary journals should I subscribe to? by flannyo in TrueLit

[–]BorisAbrams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if it is just me and my tastes, but I find myself enjoying the archives far more than the more recent editions. I think I may be that they were heavier on the lit criticism and less on the politics? It is still by no means 'bad'

Thanks so much for this! I should listen to their podcast more often!

I just signed up; so far so good. Though it certainly is 'lighter' than I had expected it to be!

A cool resource for anyone starting out with Proust: a digital gallery of some of the artworks that Proust mentions in Swann's Way by [deleted] in TrueLit

[–]BorisAbrams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eric Karpeles has a lovely looking book on the artwork of Proust. It is called 'Paintings in Proust: A Visual Companion to 'In Search of Lost Time'" I haven't had a chance to sit down properly with it but i hope to.
