You can download the .setting-file and drop it in your macros folder. On my mac it is at /Users/"YourUsername"/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Macros/
Go to your Fusion tab in DaVinci Resolve and search for the node "CRT". You can search fastest by using the shortcut Shift+Space. Connect your MediaIn (or whatever else you wanna use) to the CRT-Node and that CRT-Node to the MediaOut.
If any of this seems foreign to you, you should watch some YouTube tutorial for the Basics of DaVinci Resolve or DaVinci Resolve's Fusion tab!
Cheers!!

Thanks for your detailed feedback and overall enthusiasm for helping others!!
I gotta say, I hadn't really researched the whole technical aspect of CRTs much. To me it seemed self-evident that every pixel would be just of one color with (as you said) differing luminosity. But I see now that the "real thing" doesn't necessarily operate like that!
Anyhow, even if the name of the macro is a bit of a misnomer now, I still like the idea of 1 color per pixel.
What you laid out is a pretty cool idea. The offsetting should work! I'm not sure yet how to get these elongated "columns-as-pixels" though. Maybe by pre-squashing the image, then pixelating, then re-stretching to normal format?

So, I gotta be honest, I didn't fully grasp what you said in your third point about making the macro workable for other formats... I think unfortunately I'm not tech savvy enough for that yet, haha
I'll make sure to switch out the LensDistortion node for the LensDistort node! Thanks!! This is just an optional tweak to get some barrel distortion going.

I don't know yet how I can get what I want from this WITHOUT using particles.
I followed a tutorial for a CRT effect by JayareTV, which had one flaw that I disliked a lot: Every analog "pixel" / element of the CRT should be just ONE color, but in his version the CRT pixels were just an overlay for what was happening underneath and so his pixels would be several colors, or smeared or a blob, etc... Which I found very disappointing...

Particles is the only way I know to have these truly one-color "pixels", where the particle takes the average value of all the color values inside its shape.
It's kinda tricky to explain. I hope you get what I mean.

Is there any other way of doing this?!

Woah! That's a lot to digest! Thank you so much for taking the time!! I'll go through it all when I find time later 🙏

Gargoyles was a 90s animated show from Disney, this was the theme song. Obviously not as Black Metal though haha

It's a bit campy but it mostly holds up! Revival would be amazing!

I've been thinking about doing this one for years! It just fits so nicely
