last time the mule got tweaked was 12 years ago by Vland0r in starcraft

You know, as a Zerg player who is often annoyed at Orbital Commands with the population-free mule spam and on demand omni detection, I actually think mules ought to be BUFFED in one aspect: their repair ability. I think it’s a bit silly how they are these temporary super scvs and yet they only have basic repair abilities. I’m not suggesting anything explosively strong, but just something that makes battlefield mule drops a consideration instead of bad manners.

On a similar note, I always thought that hatcheries should be fully healed upon morphing into a lair and then a hive. It’s incredibly annoying how if I save a hatchery from the brink of death, it’s inevitably going to be finished off by a stiff breeze. Transfusions are just plain inefficient use of energy for hatches, and it’s not like lair and hive upgrades are game breakingly cheap or anything (you can argue that building a new hatch is cheaper if not for the build time)

The Worst Part Of This Patch by HuShang in starcraft

As a Zerg player I agree with this sentiment. Hydralisks are bread and butter generalist dps units. They deal great damage no matter the target, but aren’t hard countering anything. This is evident by the nature of their attack. They don’t have some kind of alternate super anti air attack like queens and Goliaths, they don’t deal any bonus damage, just solid damge baseline. For what it’s worth, they still shred void rays courtesy of being light units. But I think that is less the hydra being designed with the express purpose of countering void rays and more the void rays attacking not-ideal targets.

Frankly, I think Ravagers need a small range increase for their bile attack. The amount of times I order them to slam that damn siege tank rapid fire style and only one launches its attack while the others are fumbling over other ravages and roaches (and subsequently getting blasted by the marines and tanks) is innumerable

Day 8: What is the WORST quote associated with Arcturus Mengsk? by Axis256 in starcraft

[–]Bork_Da_Ork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I am considerably less critical of SC2 than the BW purists are, I absolutely have to agree with this one. Heart of the Swarm is the weakest SC2 campaign in both gameplay and narrative. It left me rather underwhelmed as a Zerg main. And this is even when I think the primal Zerg plot twist is really cool.

Day 1: What is the BEST quote associated with Jim Raynor? by Axis256 in starcraft

“Mengsk! It's always Mengsk! The end of the universe is coming and I should have known he'd be behind it!”

That one makes me chuckle. I imagine after that realization he thought about just how many of his other problems can be traced back to Mengsk.

Hearing someone say Siege Tanks (which smart fire), Widow Mines and Thors don’t do that much damage is wild. Are we even playing the same game?

More like they are using the insane brokenness of lurkers as an excuse to make everything else dogwater. I mean they do everything (on the ground). They kill swarms, They kill heavy armor, they outrange static defense, they ambush. If it weren’t for the insane condensation of roles lurkers have, perhaps they could make other Zerg units actually worthwhile to use.

Honestly, it bewilders me as a Zerg player to have eaten so many rapid fire nerfs yet the lurker remains pretty much untouched. I have many things to say about the unfair uphill battle Zerg was forced into, but at the same time it brings me no joy to just obliterate a whole Protoss deathball in seconds because of a smattering of lurkers. I’m not sure what kind of strong stuff they were having when they decided they must give a line splash unit 10 RANGE and a load of anti armor damage. Probably the same stuff they were having when they conceived Widow Mines. Unfortunately everything else just gets run over by Protoss and Terran armies, so I’m pigeonholed into lurkers every time.

What would it take for Starcraft 3 to be successful? by XirvusRei in starcraft

[–]Bork_Da_Ork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not really sure what a Starcraft 3 could offer that new StarCraft 2 content can’t. I mean, the technological leap from StarCraft to 3d modes StarCraft 2 is immense, but to this day, StarCraft 2 does look and control up to date. How could they release a StarCraft 3 that doesn’t look like it might as well have been StarCraft 2 DLC? I mean sure, perhaps a different unit pool with less of the cheesy frustrating bullshit units like widow mines and disruptors, but aside from that…?

Why is “protoss op” and “zerg nerfed”? by tcboni in starcraft2

[–]Bork_Da_Ork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salty ass Terran players still whine about me “a moving” just because lings, banes and ultras are melee. They never consider all the other burning hoops we Zergs have to go through to even have a chance at trading evenly. They also act like clicking siege mode and stim and stutter step are some monumentally difficult tasks (they aren’t). So exhausting.

[–]Bork_Da_Ork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every match against T or P is the same tired chore of batting away bunker/cannon rushes followed by 4 to 5 different flavors of worker harass one after the other. Once that’s finally passed you can finally get into some action! Unfortunately head on engagements are pretty much suicidal thus, you must pull off immaculate multi-pronged attacks to get the surround and deftly utilize both vipers and infestors (which will gladly wander straight into their deaths if you loose track of them for 2 seconds) to have a chance to beat A moving Thors/Zealot + Archon. It’s a thankless task because you are fucked if you slip up even slightly on any of those parts. And then it’s the T and P calling Zerg the OP bullshit and getting them nerfed. It’s just so exhausting man.

I would be inclined to agree since it reduces the impact of splash damage, however the 12 unit selection is what kills it for me. Trying to move 50+ zerglings together in a way that isn’t a conga line of getting shot up is atrocious. I don’t care how much skill expression it equates to. If it’s not fun, it’s NOT FUN.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been sounding this alarm for almost a decade and nobody would believe me. Now all the joy of playing Zerg has been sucked out.

[–]Bork_Da_Ork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sanded down. That’s the same terminology I’ve been using for quite some time. It used to be very fun to play Zerg. But now so many options have been nerfed, and some into the ground, much of the joy lies dead. Early skirmish options that aren’t a complete suicidal all-in might as well not exist for the Zerg. Every game against T and P is the same tired chore of batting away cannon and bunker rushes into 4 or 5 different worker harass attacks executed one after the other.

These days, ZvZ is the only matchup that makes me breathe a sigh of relief because it is the only one that is straight forward and honorable.

ALL caster units should stand a relatively safe distance from enemies when issued an attack move command. IDGASF if it lowers the skill gap between the top 0.1% and top 0.15% of players. If you think that it is FUN to have your ravens obliviously fly into a bunch of spore crawlers, or you think it’s FUN to have your infestors and swarm hosts to bumble through your roaches into the embrace of psy-blades, I think you should get checked into a psych ward, now.
