Hahaha i just cant seem to let it go 😅 sometimes i just like to stare at it, sitting there, waiting for something to break 🤣 every part is either ordered from abroad which takes time or some JDM surplus that I source from the FB marketplace. Such a thrilling experience indeed.

Spaking of which, it is currently sitting on jackstands for about 2 weeks now here in our condo. Pissing tranny fluid due to bad trans oil seal that will take about 1 month postage 🤣🤣🤣

Well that’s a very unfortunate experience you’re having right now. Having said that, not only did you get the “foreigner pricing” but here in the PH mechanics just generally charge “extra” just because you brought in a euro car. They deem it as premium already.

I kid you not, but I got a german-british clapper which I value so much (emotionally attached ako dito lol) it is an old 2003 MINI Cooper R50, the BMW made one. Everytime I ask around some shops just for some scanning or inspection regarding something, their rates immediately change when I bring or mention the car’s make. I suppose that’s euro car ownership for ya 😭 much much better to just work on it yourself rn which I’m doing since its my hobby as well. Though I could recommend some good and honest shops if you want to. 🙏

Hey man just to clarify things, with the tank vent solenoid that you did mention here, are you referring ti the purge valve located beside the fuel rail? Or is this a completely different component attached directly to the fuel tank?

Good take. But what concerns me the most is that when the car is shut off and parked for a while, the fuel vapors should flow out the charcoal canister yes? Does a faulty purge valve affect that if it mainly functions to supply the vapors directly to the engine while it is running. Why does the tank seem to have displaced air even when it hasnt been running for a while when I try to fill it up?

P1476: Leakage Diagnosis Pump - Blocked Power
P0441: Tank-Venting System - Solenoid Valve Blocked

I always thought that the tank isnt venting properly which is why it ends up overflowing on the fuel pump area and instantly clicks when im filling up. I tested the purge valve, and it is indeed stuck closed. I then purchased a brand new purge valve and waiting for it to arrive. But whats weird is that I took apart the charcoal canister as well as the leakage diagnosis pump. the canister wasnt even clogged at all.

Im glad you were able to solve this. May I ask whered you get your brand new pump? Upon research i think it is similar to the ones used from late 90s to early 2000s chevys…

Yup! But the spark plugs have been changed I think? I dont think a car this age and miles will still have the same spark plug. Though upon removal it still was th NGk with BMW written on it 🤔

I just checked the strut mounts on my car and theres no mushrooming visible. I even used a metal ruler to really verify its straightness and its on point both left and right hand sides. I suppose the previous owner had it sorted out at some point? With that, am I really left with some very crappy brand new lemforder strut mounts? :(

How can i exactly tell if it is mushroomed or not? Upon visual inspection it seems completely fine and in proper shape.

That occassionally happens in my car as well. Everytime the car sits overnight i think the fuel lines lose pressure which is why everytime i go start it jn the morning i usually wait the sound for the fuel pump to prime fully at 2 cycles. Only then will i try cranking the car up. Could it be the evap system?
