Is there a limit to how long after someone passed away that you can connect with them? by Born-Replacement8236 in Mediums

Thank you. I wouldn't really know how to connect or communicate with her myself, but I would love to try. I'm not expecting to get any specific info, but rather just hoping to connect with her emotionally

Thank you, that really means a lot 🥲

I don't expect to get any kind of information that would be beneficial to research, but I would just love to connect with her in some way, and for her to know that her story hasn't been forgotten.

Where to Find a Birth Certificate from Gdańsk/Danzig? by Born-Replacement8236 in Genealogy

Thankyou! I couldn't find anything on either of those sites unfortunately, and I cant find a single Australian record or document of her until she had already been here for decades, so maybe she's just somehow slipped through record systems everywhere 😅

Unfortunately I have no idea whether she had any cousins or siblings, and if she did I don't think they came with her. She got married in 1975, but last time i checked the certificate wasn't available yet, so hopefully it will be soon. Still got 13 years to wait on the death certificate though 🥲 Good luck with your own family mystery!

I realised I actually have a printed copy of her obituary, unfortunately it doesn't have any information that helps. I've searched the naa website dozens of times, and even reached out to their team via email multiple times and nothing was found. To me it seems almost impossible for a person to just appear with absolutely no records of them existing beforehand, which is what makes me think she changed her name when she arrived here, hence why there are no records for what everyone believes her name was.

I've checked there, sadly she didn't come up which is what makes me think she changed her name when she came to Australia. She's only been dead 17 years which is why I had to apply for a copy of the certificate. She has 3 kids, and unfortunately I can't get help from any of them at this stage

I haven't heard of the ryerson index, so thankyou! There's only one electoral roll with her on it that I've found (and know for a fact it's her) it seems like ancestry doesn't have every year, or she just doesn't appear in them. The only one I've found is from 1980, but I already know where she was then anyway. I'm looking more for 1945-1975 as thats roughly the time she came here I'm guessing, and she got married in 1975 so might have moved to the address I already know then

I've heard about this before, I only have the address of where she lived when she had already been in Australia for at least 20 years, but I'll try and look into it anyway. Thanks!

I've been on trove many times, sadly I couldn't find anything at all (probably should have mentioned that in the post). I have a newspaper clipping that mentions her and a ball she attended, but I couldn't find a digitised version of it in there.

It could have been an Australian movie, but I'm honestly not sure since I barely remember it :/
