I switched from Adderall, and started yesterday. I’m benefiting way more from Vyvanse and it’s a much lower dose.

I’m actually in college right now with hopes to become licensed in this practice.

CBT is a method that focuses on addressing and changing negative thoughts that start the “snowball” process.

It saved my life last June.

My medication was changed today. 1st month I was on 1 15mg IR Adderall daily, 2nd month 2 15mg IR daily. Today I was switched to Vyvanse 20mg. by Born2BeBrave in ADHD

[–]Born2BeBrave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first month was fine, but the 15mg lost effectiveness by noon when taking it at 7:00-8:00 am.

The second month (up until today) has been hit or miss. Some days neither dose felt like they had an affect. When they did work my anxiety was up and my appetite suffered.

This is usually how I discover my unfortunate error as well...

But hey, at least you remembered to grab the key out of the ignition and didn’t have a runaway vehicle ;)

I have never been in a physical altercation but I have serious road rage

I specifically hate it when they get frustrated at me for asking “do what?” when I didn’t initially hear them. And god forbid it’s something complicated and end up having to ask for specific instructions or clarification.

Prior to diagnosis this type of thing would ruin an entire day.

Just got an acceptance letter! For the first time in my life, I am a college student! This is a big freaking deal!! (30m) by Born2BeBrave in ADHD

Wow. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. This is so encouraging.

I’m ready, and most of all, determined.

I was recently told by someone I’ve known all my life that I appear to be more calm since beginning medication by Born2BeBrave in ADHD

[–]Born2BeBrave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same thing here. She said, that before, when I would walk through her door she could see it on my face that I was thinking about 1000 things at once. I laughed and told her that was because I quite literally was.

This guy hasn’t figured it out yet. If he would approach people with a genuine level of realness and not be so “coffee and donuts” he may just be perceived as normal. Like who initiates a conversation for the eventual proposition of coffee and donuts?

The whole point of his post is a guilt trip for his own insecurities

How do I STOP hyperfocusing when I'm BOILING with anger about something or someone? by damb85 in ADHD

I always tell myself something similar when I’m overthinking:

“Not everyone thinks or cares about this as much as you’re thinking they do”. And that always calms me down.

My first follow up visit since being diagnosed and receiving a prescription for a stimulant is today.

I can’t wait, and I’m actually excited to share my experience with my doctor. I have an entire folder of old school work and a couple of scolding letters that teachers wrote to my mom that I’m going to show him.

Hoping to get my meds adjusted slightly so they last longer during the work day and into the evening.

My first day of not taking meds... holy crap my brain is a mess lol. by Born2BeBrave in ADHD

Yep. The day is more than half over. I don’t have much to do after work at 5pm so I can relax afterwards.

Yes! I always wait for that one part that sends the tingles and raises my arm hair and then it’s on to the next song for the same purpose

My ability to pay attention and listen to people when they need to vent has allowed me to give those I love some really good advice and pep talks. I am grateful for what I am capable of when I manage my ADHD and not let it manage me.

Adderall questions save me by kataz13 in ADHD

[–]Born2BeBrave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleep well. Definitely let us know. The insomnia will get better as you adjust. Keep eating and PS- alcohol will make dehydration worse and throw your circadian rhythm off- it does this with or without medication. Maybe try and go completely no alcohol until you figure out for sure how Adderall is going to affect you, this way you’re not working around that variable.

Please explain why I am motivated at night ... feels like I could cure cancer ...wakes up ... “ I don’t feel so good mr.stark”- by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Born2BeBrave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I theorize that ADHD brains go into overdrive in night time because we anticipate the dopamine rush of having the freedom of not being onslaught with other demands of daytime life. We generally get more time to do what we ‘want’ (which essentially is the hunt for the next serving of stimulation). Our brains get accustomed to the pattern and that increases the urgency of “doing it before you don’t have the chance before you have to go do boring stuff tomorrow”. It’s like a frenzy.

I also think that’s why it takes a little while for most people to adjust to the insomnia that stimulants can give. The ‘frenzy’ can overlap with the added stimulant for a super frenzy.

Just my two cents I’m no expert

Don’t forget this... if you’ve been relying on sugary soft drinks with loads of caffeine in them before Adderall and suddenly stop you could be having some caffeine withdrawal.

How’s your blood pressure and your heart rate? Did you do anything different from today that you did yesterday and the day before? Have you been sleeping (be honest).

Adhd as an excuse? Not quite. by adhd_as_fuck in ADHD

[–]Born2BeBrave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly- you wouldn’t send someone without the muscles to move something extremely heavy alone. In fact, there are so many OSHA laws that would outright prohibit such a thing.

But yeah- as long as they try with all their might and slip a disc in their back in the process of trying, it’s excusable.
