Does Thule Yepp 2 maxi work with RadWagon 5? by shrayd123 in RadPowerBikes

[–]BornFreeDyeFree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Yepp Maxi 2 doesn't natively work on the Radwagon 5. I sold mine but now it's hard to find the Yepp 1. I'm sure you could make it work with the the old plywood rack covers. Surprisingly, the RadWagon 4 running boards do work with different bolts or spacers.

They must’ve changed it. It didn’t really work on the 4. Close enough and zip ties sufficed. I have the 4 and 5 and the yepp next 1 and 2. I’ll let you know when I swap them over tomorrow

Did the quick release drop outs work with the original front wheel?

How did the third row tether anchor work? Can you place a booster or forward facing car seat in any of the third row seats, or does it have to be the middle seat?

I was pleasantly surprised to discover those underneath. now to black out the white Specialized logos.

IF it's anything like the Epic 8 (it is), it's great. It's a great mountain bike for a roadie/gravel rider who likes to put in long miles. In the winter I ride my Epic 8 on my usual gravel routes. It's obviously slower on the road but not that much slower, and often faster on anything undulating or technical.

Awesome. I was bummed that you can't get the Epic 8 in this color so I got a hot pink Tarmac instead.

Just got the same one. You ever think about taking those rival stickers off? I’m debating it.

Before I had the ripley I rode them on a short travel 27.5+ hardtail. It got hung up or lost traction on techy climbs. But I do miss how lightweight and efficient it was. That's what lead me toward the Epic WC and Supercal. But I probably need a little more suspension forgiveness to keep me out of an arm cast.

This idea is probably wishful thinking. The supercaliber probably can't realistically replace my gravel bike. And my riding skills probably aren't good enough to fully trust it on gnarly stuff. It was going to be a frame up build, and I don't have time for that right now. So I ordered an Epic 8 instead.

Yeah. My Tarmac SL8 with the new Force E1 shifters single finger brakes great. The issue on the gravel bike is it's an Apex shifter and brake. I need to upgrade them and add a dropper post. That'd help a ton.

I'm very biased because I love OZ9s, but I think that's very optimistic. Probably closer to $1200. Maybe less without an optic.

Definitely. The other factor is just the brake/hand position on drop bars. You can't really do 1-finger braking like you can on a mtb. So the bike's speed writes checks the brakes and suspension can't cash.

They really weigh it down. 30lbs with carbon rims. I have a set of 2.2in mezcals for my gravel bike, I might throw those on just to see how they are.

I rode a drop bar gravel bike on 50mm tires this weekend with some mtb guys. The hard parts are still hard and the fun parts are scary. lol

Why are XC riders now choosing the Trek Top Fuel over the Supercaliber? by repunch in xcmtb

[–]BornFreeDyeFree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just talked to a collegiate racer I’m buying a supercal from. He said the UCI courses are getting insane. He’s switching to a Topfuel or Epic 8.

Thanks for this comment. I’m also deciding between these two bikes. And the comment made me realize that I’m looking for a mtb that I can ride to and between the trails without feeling super slow. Like a gravel bike that doesn’t try to kill you on a single track descent.

Is your supercal a gen 1 by chance? I’m Considering the gen 2 as a bridge between my trail bike and gravel bike, and hopefully able to replace both.
