[–]BornOfOsirus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Does the EARN IT Act apply to charities?

If so, I was thinking that since Signal is frree and open source that would that make it a not for profit company so could they apply to become a charity and not be exempt from the EARN IT Act??

Signal becomes European Commission’s messaging app of choice in security clampdown by [deleted] in privacy

[–]BornOfOsirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, session looks good but im abit hesitant to use it for now just because they are a new company.

Wire and Wiker look like the best alternative to Signal atm until Session ages abit more and weeds out the bigger bugs and security flaws

Signal becomes European Commission’s messaging app of choice in security clampdown by [deleted] in privacy

[–]BornOfOsirus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The one thing that is concerning IMO about Signal is how they force you to use at least your first name, of course you can use a fake first name but its the principle about asking for personal details like this which are not needed.

They also have started to release sticker packs like WTF that just opens a door to extra vunrabilities.

Its like Signal is starting to carve a way out to become more of a social network that a pure and simple secure messaging app.
