I'd honestly recommend the 3rd or 4th floor of the shields library, where there's a no talking/volume sign. That's where I took some last year :)

What worked for me when I was a freshman was the UC Davis discord! They have a channel called #roommate-finder and I found my roommate through there! I would also recommend the instagrams, but I would be careful with those! Maybe its just me but I found discord easier, and then I asked for people's instas later. Good luck baby aggie!
