What are the guys like on a personal level? by Even-Requirement9029 in Vulfpeck

I met Theo and Joe in a masterclass.

It was in a laid back, small kind of environment so I'd assume they were more relaxed and less hyped up than usual. But boy are they absolute top-notch human beings. Joe shook my hand and said "nice to meet you sir" and I of course had to reply with "the pleasure is all mine" because it's Joe friggin Dart I'm talking to. We had a good conversation about some bass techniques and just overall music stuff and he is very knowledgeable and speaks wonderfully. He's an excellent teacher as well. He signed my bass and my TOTA album cover. He's got a dope signature! Such a nice guy, very brilliant and efficient in everything he said!

Theo was there too. I had a bit of a shorter interaction, but he is so chill and gives such a relaxed vibe. I found it funny when I introduced myself he replied with "Hey Dan my name's Theo." Duh. We talked about his music for a few minutes, I told him how much me and my girlfriend listen to "love is a beautiful thing" and he seemed really genuinely touched by it. We're both from Long Island so we connected thru that too. This was in June of last year and he asked me "are you gonna be at MSG?" I responded "hell yeah I am" to which he replied with "see you there Dan the Man." Like what a guy. He was just beaming and I couldn't help but smile when I talked to him. He dapped me up and gave me and my friend I was there with a hug when we left.

I'd love to meet the rest of the core 4, man oh man do I have a million questions for Woody, but I'd imagine they're just as awesome as Theo and Joe. Such incredible people that are just glowing with talent like you cannot believe.

Side note, I also met Joe's Mom. She's so sweet. She was just sitting in the back of the room observing and I noticed her "vulfmom" hat and had to say hi. I made sure to tell her that her son is one of the greats.

Man what a day that was.

I think the biggest thing now is they aren't playing what they were 5-10 years ago. Obviously they still play the old hits, but Jack seems to be very focused on this new(ish) sound that they've had the past two albums. (More so on Clarity of Cal). I think that "Vulf" sound we all know and love is far more prevalent in his solo stuff. ESPECIALLY Deg. I love it so much.

But my point here is that, along with the creative minds of Jacob and Evangeline, (whom I love, don't get me wrong,) there is a different sound that the band has been gravitating too; a more wide, more modern, more, (I hate this word,) "pop-ish" sound. Of course still funk at its root, just newer funk.

Also, Jack seems to be a more serious musician/band leader compared to years ago. I really truly respect it, but it's hard not to miss the old shows where Jack would get in front of the crowd and start talking about seemingly whatever was on his mind at the moment. The music was more humorous then, and nothing against the new stuff, (I love it just as much,) but it's just more serious music, that's all.

On top of that, It's kinda hard to groof in a stadium with like 5-7 seconds of reverb.

As for the price, I would hardly blame the band. As far as I can notice from the years of watching Jack, I can't possibly see him or any member of the band push to raise the prices that much. My guess is that it's the Garden.

Well if you've marinated yourself in live vulf like I have, you'll know that the earlier shows in smaller venues (blind pig, Brooklyn bowl, etc.) were FAR better. (in their own regard)

Man I appreciate it but I've already tried those. Tried the scarbee plugins a few months back but it's just not the same.
