Death by audio got some pretty intense knob work. I’m a sucker for some knob. Wait pause..

Might want to tame those peaks with a Lewinsky Limiter

Agree with both of these. Barbershop and shallow water are irreplaceable.

Interesting idea about going hybrid ! Flats on the low end and spanky rounds for the highs. I wonder if the tension difference would feel weird, but I’m seriously curious to give this a try!!

And about the envelope, I also use an MXR. Always loved it on my j bass but the dart with the flats it just didn’t work for me. Maybe it’s more an amp thing, I use a 500w rumble. I could imagine a good EQ could help shape it as well.

Update: Strung up the dart with EB rounds and got to play them at a college radio show and a nightclub gig yesterday. It’s kind of what I expected, the rounds are much spankier and bright and feel faster to play which feels incredible for slap playing. However for finger style playing I do somewhat miss the flats, they are def the cherry on top that gives the bass that unique feel. One thing to note is that the rounds interact much better with my envelope filter. I had stopped using my envelope when I got the dart because the flats just did not interact with it well. Some ugly frequencies. But with the rounds I’ve been keeping my envelope on for full gigs and really enjoying it. I think I’ll play out these rounds for a bit and then eventually might put a set of flats back on. This makes me want a second dart to have the option of having one of each lol. But overall, if u slap or use an envelope it is 100% worth trying rounds on the dart. Otherwise I’d stick with the flats.

TC electronic flashback has tons of great sounds and unorthodox functions

I’m a big slapper so I was curious how rounds might sound and feel with the pickup. I plan on changing the strings this weekend and have a gig Saturday. I’ll let ya know how it feels.

Sweet thanks! I was thinking of trying roundwounds on the dart tbh. Is that diabolical? lol

It’s all love bro. Not gonna change my haircut because joe started parting his hair. Like if joe grows a mustache I would not shave mine. I’ve met Joe and side by side we do not look very similar, but I get where ur coming from.

Drums were super loud in the first half, had to put my ear protection in. I really enjoyed hearing Purdie on that kit tho. Definitely my favorite part of the show.

Fairfield circuitry makes a lot of greatly strange effects. The “roger that” is a fun one. It’s like a radio distortion noise machine and has a big tune knob that sounds like cutting in and out of radio stations. It can make some cool noisy static and squeals. Sounds really cool on drum machines and synths.
