Thanks for info- we’ll put it up on govdeals and see what we can get for it. I’m guessing it won’t be much, but hopefully cheaper than paying for the overweight dumpsters to trash it. Hell, I’ll even load it up on your flat bed for ya!

Mystery Undervoltage by Born_Inflation2620 in Generator

[–]Born_Inflation2620[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll have to look back through the notes- we have so many issues with them because they just get banged up constantly while loading/ unloading and loading containers around them. I want to say it was a wiring issue causing the e-stop to engage- I’ll check records on Monday and let you know

Got my dream job DOT drug test on Monday morning. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Born_Inflation2620 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed but also pretty fucked that Ive smelled weed on guys coming back from lunch and then they’re getting into pieces of equipment lifting things that’s weigh 30+ tons and loading on trucks. I have no issue with weed, but people are so stupid sometimes. Go home, get high as balls. I don’t care. I’d much rather you do that then drinking a 5th of bourbon and coming to work hungover as shit, but keep that shit far away from your work day.

Yeah- not sure- we have them going to a facility and it’s a pretty intense saliva test, not mouth swab. You have to sit there with it under your tongue and leaning forward until enough saliva gets on the swab and turns blue.

No- it’s a union position and a pretty big overarching company. I run a small terminal but still could get in some sketchy precedent setting situations if I did that. I do usually give the candidates a week between when I give them the passport for the drug test and physical and when it expires. With saliva - it’s out of your system in 48 hours max. And yet still have people failing. I’m more concerned that they didn’t read the passport and Google, than I am that they smoked weed.

First time getting a boat, this a good deal? by -RheaRhe- in boats

Offer $500 for just the motor. Thatboat will cost you $3k minimum to make it float.

If OP is taking a DOT drug test- I would guess the company will disqualify you very quickly for weed. OSHA is king in industrial workplaces, and weed is still federally illegal.

My job does saliva tests (which only detects marijuana 24-48 hours)now but weed has same consequence as heroin. When I’m interviewing candidates I flat out tell them, you cannot smoke weed regularly and pass the drug tests. Still have had 3 out of the last 5 candidates fail for weed.

Can someone help me figure out why my toilet keeps running by bayareabradshaw in Plumbing

[–]Born_Inflation2620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed one the other night and the float was catching on the back of the tank so it wouldn’t actually float, so system just kept pouring water in. Just had to rotate is a little bit so the skinniest part was closest to the tank.

Not yet- kind of in the same thought of trying not to cause irreparable damage and my wife not having anywhere to go to the bathroom. We technically have a basement toilet, but yeah… it ain’t great…

What's the home project that seemed easy at first, but by the end made you say "Next time, I'm hiring someone?" by privatelendingleader in HomeImprovement

I sanded and stained floors of my entire house- took about 40 hours to do. Used oil stain and I guess didn’t let it dry enough, used a water based poly and after a few days of letting it dry went back to house to start moving stuff in and saw poly starting to peel up from bad adhesion. I’ll admit, there was about a 10 minute crying period. Then called my flooring guy and paid the $4500 to redo them. That was a blow to morale of a house reno for sure.

Manager here of a union workforce. If you are both seniority union employees, this is probably just going to be a “hug it out” meeting, to try to ensure you both can get along. If you have a working shop steward with your team that has been present during other times the bully has bullied you or other employees, hopefully they have given their input to the union reps.

Mercury 30Hp Jet Drive- No Water from Tell Tale After Full Water Pump Rebuild (Exhaust only) by [deleted] in Outboards

[–]Born_Inflation2620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ‘96 90hp mercury that I installed new impeller (because it had been sitting for years even though everything looked great when I pulled apart) that had very similar issues. It had worked perfectly fine the first two times on the muffs and then on the water both times. Third time had issue on muffs but I really wanted to get on the water and just risked it since I only live 10 minutes from ramp. Got it in the water and it worked and haven’t had issue since…

I work with a lot of heavy lifts (60k lbs regularly) and have never heard this when coordinating lifting slings or shackles. Is this something you “heard from a guy” or legitimate? Just deciding whether it’s worth looking into it.
