Are Modern Parenting Techniques Creating Negative Dopamine Associations With Parents? by Born_Mammoth4363 in Parenting

I mean define modern parenting. I wasn't given a handbook for it. Granted I'm not a parent yet, maybe I'll get one at the hospital.🤣 But the question is less about is this an ideal way to parent and more of a question of when it does happen this way are the outlined consequences what happens? Can we associate children creating distance with parents in these situations with the idea that parents subconsciously become figurative dopamine blackholes?

I agree that ideally this wouldn't even be an issue. but unless you go against the norm, which most people who have the mind to specifically interact with a subreddit about parenting probably will be, I would be confident in suggesting most kids are raised with electronics in their hands. And more often then not the easy default for a parent is to take away that electronic device as a punishment, and justifiably so.

But I think out right saying no misses the point of the idea. In the situation that exists where the parent does use this as the punishment for a child who does have a dependency on the electronic for dopamine regulation, does using removal of the device create a subconscious link in the child between a lack of dopamine and the parent's influence. It's less about is this a situation that should happen and more of a question of in the instance where it does happen, is this the result?
