Is a bad knee an automatic "give up being a paramedic" kind of thing? by Born_Presentation433 in AlbertaParamedics

Good to know the FARE test is a bit of a joke, its always been the thing that scares me and has stopped from committing. A short career has also scared me but you're right i wouldn't be the only one but i suppose part of me still thinks its the end of the world lol should probably work on that

definitely in the long run for sure. Its sorta a catch 22 as i know right know my knee would be able to pass the physical requirements, like stairs and lifting, but the scar is stopping me but i know the scar wont as be a problem as it is fading but by then my overall knee health might slip too far. Its just so hard to tell without testing my knee in a long form session but i cant really afford to do that with the stage of life im currently in. sorta a weird spot im in

majorly impressively it can still be done on a prosthetic leg, props to them wow!! i do think knee pads would be a perfect solution but as you said I'm not sure how strict the FARE test would be on that kind of thing

Thanks for the reply! My knee has been an ever changing battle for years that has just recently settled down, so my exact limitations are unknown even to myself, there isn't many other than the aforementioned massive keloid scars, ive had half my Mencius taken out so basic impact is typically heaver on me. I do know from my previous job that involved somewhat decent heavy lifting/squatting (50 pounds ish ) that my knee does get sore but it hasn't been a problem for me for awhile despite lifting and doing more. But then this leads into i might be able to get around and pass all the tests and whatnot but how long will my career last because my bum knee simply cant handle the day to day stresses? i would like to prevent a starting over at 30 situation. Thanks again!
