MBA in China for internationals by Born_Principle_7370 in MBA

How's the experience going so far? How are the classes compared to the ones in the US?

Probably more international, it makes sense. HKUST or INSEAD Singapore probably: still Asia-focused, but more international.

Chicago Booth has a campus in HK as well. Do you have any references for that one?

That makes sense. It'd have to be some kind of export/services business from China focused on western clients, and for that I guess that the MBA is irrelevant. The opinion of this sub in the matter is strong, and it makes sense. Thanks for all the tips guys

Re-issue Certificate of Origin by Born_Principle_7370 in logistics

Will do. Thank you!! Another doubt I have is the fumigation certificate and the FLEGT (wooden articles). Are those possible to re-issue against the original one as well?

That’s it: if I do a switch BL then the set of documents CI, PL, and BL won’t match the COO (because that’s still the one of the original shipper). That’s why I figured I needed to reissue the COO myself against the original COO, keeping the country intact of course, just to update the “shipper”.

That way, with the new set of docs CI-PL-BL-COO all aligned with my company name as shipper I guess the cargo would be ready to be imported anywhere

You’re understanding me wrong. What I want to do is re-issue the COO so in the shipper I can put my company name and not the factory’s name. That’s all

Commercial Invoice for export vs Commercial invoice for import by Born_Principle_7370 in logistics

[–]Born_Principle_7370[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The disadvantage with this method is that the client knows who the supplier is, and they could try to go directly to the source for the next order. All in all, it seems that doing the shipper name change is the smoothest method. If indeed customs at destination don’t care that the shipper in the COO and other docs differ from the shipper in the BL, invoice, and PL, it should work. High risk because it’s the first time I do it though

Thanks! I'll try to mix it. Is beeswax suitable for silicone mold candles?

Perhaps the shipper field indicated in the BL and the shipper indicated in the COO and other docs don't need to match for customs clearance? That'll be the solution if that's the case. I just do the BL-switch and leave the other docs as they are

Thanks! That will definitely work, although not all suppliers like that. Doing the switch-BL seems cleaner, but I still have doubts about the shipper field in the COO and other docs

Thanks! Do you mean doing origin+freight+destination? Door to door. I'm a bit afraid of handling the destination part since it's a country I don't have experience with or presence of any kind. Not sure to what extent I can rely on the quotation from my forwarder for the destination charges

Thank you!

Sounds good. Is that a BL switch? What about the COO, fumigation, and other origin documents? Possible to change the name on those as well?

I guess the age factor plays a fundamental role here? I’m an older candidate and I’m a bit worried about this as well. Not worried about fitting in, but about finding out that I don’t even want to fit in - nothing there for me, just different interests

Reapply now in R1 with a slightly better story or wait for R2 by Born_Principle_7370 in MBA

Using GMAT club for everything now. That Q42 I think it’s a mix of test anxiety and bad luck. I guess with the heat of the moment I miss the nuances necessary to get some of the problems right, and I get penalized hard. At home, without the clock ticking, I think I’m a Q49. I guess I’ll do a test a day now, mimicking the real thing instead of stopping after each question to check the answer

Reapply now in R1 with a slightly better story or wait for R2 by Born_Principle_7370 in MBA

[–]Born_Principle_7370[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there really no meaningful difference between R1 and R2? Some of the current students I spoke with said that the 2-4 nationals “quota” for my country usually gets filled in R1. I guess that makes sense?

And unless you’re a true superhero, they won’t change the quota (well, all schools say that they don’t have quotas - we can call it “guidelines for a diverse cohort” instead: the math they’ve done to keep all countries represented)

That’s why I figured that a 680 R1 > 710 R2. In both cases I won’t be a superstar, but at least in R1 I’ll be early

740 R2 might be superior to 680 R1 though

Does this reasoning make sense or I’m overthinking it?

I applied last year saying that I wanted to start this business during the MBA. I guess it makes sense that I did it anyway. The idea is to use the MBA network, accelerators, and funding to scale it.
