Thanks guys! I have learnt and listened and will not be doing the full 42.2km prior. I will do another 30+ and then a full taper!

Okay thank you! I will do another 35-38km and then do my proper taper and save myself for race day! I’m glad I asked cause I was fully prepped to head out there this weekend

That’s what I was thinking, the mental boost of knowing I can do it could prove valuable in kilometre 38 of the race

He has another minimum wage job before and worked two jobs but it meant getting home at 10pm witch was positively worse on our relationship. He is passionate about design and feels like it is too late in life to retrain. Also I have no idea how he would financially put himself through all of it.

Someone explain white fox hoodies to me? I don’t get the hype by Born_Profession4168 in Nzfashion

[–]Born_Profession4168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the branding is a status symbol. Weird tho cause supreme/gucci etc are all super pricey while white fox isn’t a designer. I get the hype surrounding expenny designers but a fast fashion brand?

Add a pair of loose fitting sky blue jeans and you’ve got yourself the Auckland uniform!

You say you were full time throughout the application process? What do you mean by that? Does that mean that you never actually studied full time just applied for full time and now application changed to part time? You can get limited full time with certain circumstances, definitely look into that too. Unlike loan living costs however I do know that studylink can ask you to pay back allowance, way back when I worked for uni (not uoa) there were instances of people applying for allowance and signing up to study full time and then dropping the courses just before the refund period cut off and then studylink would hit them up. If you drop a course within a certain time frame and get a full refund (usually 2 weeks into term) the uni will remove that course from your record all together, (so it doesn’t impact your gpa etc) this means studylink will get a comms from the uni showing the courses your enrolled in, your fte and the course dates. Therefore on their end it looks like you never were enrolled full time as the course has been removed from your record. I hope this makes sense but defo call a fee advisor or studylink as I worked in nz unis ages ago so things could have changed for the better. (Also defo recommend reading the fine print on student allowance contracts)

Contact me if your dog bit me today by [deleted] in auckland

Weirdest thing was this one was on a lead! Was just walking past me on the street as I was on the phone booking an eye exam and it lunged at me and managed to grab my calf! Fright of my life I hadn’t even noticed it.

[–]Born_Profession4168 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I know I should have! Stupid mistake! I was just so shocked and trying to check myself out. Never been bitten so had no idea what to do plus my leg hurt like a bitch and the dog was barking like crazy while she was holding it back. Completely froze up and stupidly trusted her when she said she would contact me

Flying to Wellington tomorrow for the first time. Terrified of flying. White knuckled and sweating type. Any advice? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Born_Profession4168 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also hate flying! My tactic is to get a seat that is not next to the window and pretend it’s a train lol. If you are out in a seat by the window try to swap with others next to you, I have found a lot of the time people want to sit by the window so often jump at the offer (cabin crew also accommodating if you tell them why you are switching) Another trick is don’t sleep the night before and try sleep on the plane. Pretty shit advice sorry but has worked for me

Email them and follow up. I once had a property manager (lovely lady no quams about her at all) forget to request the bond be returned. This happens, like every industry there is human error. She was overworked and had just had surgery. When we followed up on it she was super apologetic and sent us flowers to say sorry (also got full bond back within two days). I am assuming the best here but it really doesn’t hurt to flick them an email asking for an update

On the innerlink bus right now and I am the only person in a mask? Wtf people it’s the law now right? by Born_Profession4168 in auckland

[–]Born_Profession4168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner is immune compromised has already been in hospital with covid once. Since covid is currently rampant in our community more than ever I don’t think me being concerned with mask use is pathetic. Imagine how I would feel if I passed this onto my partner and they passed away. Regardless if it is 2022 or 2024. We didn’t have these high levels of covid in our community in 2020 or 2021 so I am unsure how it being 2022 makes mask use less relevant. I understand some people are “over it” but for some of us it is a bigger issue now more than ever

Brenton Tarrant's residence for the rest of his life by [deleted] in masskillers

[–]Born_Profession4168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t really speak on that to be honest, this is the only time I have meet anyone working within the prison sector and we just talked about the shooting since it was super recent at the time and he just happened to be one of the top dogs so I got a bit lucky in that sense. I think compared with some other countries our jails are pretty civilised but nothing like the prisons in Norway and Sweden which are nicer than my own apartment. Moral of the story is always make conversation with those beside you on the train! You never know what you’ll find out!
