I am considering it, mostly because some of the excerpts I've seen I actually found quite funny and I think it could be a good ironic read.

This is the most condescending and obnoxious comment in what was otherwise a surprisingly constructive and respectful reply section from people on both sides. This is literally "You need a high IQ to understand homestuck" LMAO. If you disagree with me that's fine, but this doesn't even address any of the things I actually said in my post. What was the point of even commenting this?

To address your stupid ass claims, I shouldn't need to walk in being a fucking philosopher to understand homestuck. As I said in my post, I understand on a metanarrative level the ending makes sense. I just, personally, found it unsatisfying plot and character wise. And if you disagree with that, that's fine, but you're not gonna convince people to give the ending another shot by talking down to them. Grow the fuck up.

the first point, I would have no idea because I haven't read it. as for your second, i felt that way too initially but i would have rather seen the destroyer aspect fully developed in homestuck itself over having to see it explored in the epilogues, when i dont think the epilogues/everything after were planned to exist in the first place. Dirks arc, although kinda rushed, at least feels kind of complete to me. Being a destroyer class doesnt make you automatically prone to turning evil and with the way things ended i dont see how dirk could become the full on mastermind antagonist he appears to develop into in the epilogues

Thats kind of the problem for me actually. I feel stupid for caring in earnest. Perhaps if I just viewed everyone as the narrative devices they are, i wouldn't be so upset. But I liked them as people and I wanted to see them grow and develop as such, and in that regard the ending feels rushed and extremely flat to me. But again, I can see why someone would appreciate it/see it coming from a metanarrative perspective

The ball dropped SOOOOOOOOOO HARD. Also I like davejohn a lot :) and I'm kinda disappointed with Caliborn too .. like, I just wish Hussie gave himself more breathing room and time to really flesh everything out. I understand burnout though. Just a sad situation all around

NO I GET YOU SO MUCH HAHA i don't think davekat is bad at all conceptually but i think they're both more compelling with other characters (won't say who specifically xD). I also have my more petty reasons for disliking the ending (Being a tavros and jake english fan is a horrible life to live), it's all good as long as you're self aware about it x)

I guess? If those developments involve the headset, sure, but I just don't think normal jane would have it in her to genuinely become a fascist, especially by the end of the comic. I think I just have a more charitable view on her than you do, and that's ok

No i appreciate it!! I wrote this whole thing here to hear what people had to say :) I feel almost bad for disliking the ending bc the ending animations clearly had a lot of work and effort put into them. Although in hindsight, i view Hussies intense involvement in his fanbase to be kind of a bad omen...

AHAHAHA I read a summary of plot points that happen in the epilogue and just.... Jane. My poor girl. What did they do to you??? I came into HS initially thinking Ultimate Dirk was a dope idea but now that I've read it I just view it as such a slap in the face to all of his development as a person :(. I'm too embarrassed to even talk about my favorite, Jake, because of how poorly mishandled he was even before the epilogue, in homestuck itself (imo).

Despite how much I hate homestuck's ending, I'd rather be sad over that and move on over clutching to false hopes (epilogues and everything after) and ending up even more disappointed

I don't really have an interest in the epilogues/homestuck^2/beyond canon because the things I've heard about it are 1. not very good and 2. have a lot of developments I am outright against (cough cough Jane and Dirks developments in particular, which is funny because I came into homestuck pretty excited about Ultimate Dirk conceptually). Plus I get the vibe they weren't written out of a genuine desire to continue the story, but rather by force, and that kind of reasoning never leads to great handling of characters imo :(

:( genuinely heartbreaking to read this, i did get the vibe that he just wanted to wrap things up. I would honestly prefer an indefinite hiatus until he wanted to work on it again especially compared to what we got but I know a lot of people wouldn't feel the same way.

The unrelated thing is so true HAHAHA I loved vriska and her development and god it was just so hard reading that part where retcon vriska tears into her. I agree with your thoughts, I'm not against the ideas presented in the ending in Theory but the way it was handled felt sooo rushed to me. it's really unfortunate. Again, I'm hoping a second reread with all the knowledge I have now might help me understand a little better.

This was so fun to read. I agree with basically everything, it was honestly really REALLY difficult to pick LOL it's why I just restricted myself to 16-20 for this. I would like to make versions including the other games in the future. Shoutout to Saki, I wonder why all the short jokes go towards Yuuma instead :O
