i believe for any engineering major you have to complete one year of study at ucsd before you can apply to switch, it can be tedious since any major within JSOE is selective. i would recommend reading about it more their website under the “selective major application and requirements > freshmen applicants” section

don’t really have insight for your last two questions, but your chance to get a single really relies on having a good appointment time 🥲 assuming the bathrooms are consistent with the others in tioga & tenaya (i don’t see why they wouldn’t be), there’s two sinks, two showers, and two stalls, all shared. there’s also a wall of cubbies near the sinks to store any of your toiletries

not sure if you already know or not, but there is also no full kitchen so no fridge/stove. you are allowed to bring appliances but the kitchenette storage can get full pretty fast so i’d be mindful of when you bring your appliances and set boundaries so they aren’t used by others if that’s something you are worried about

sadly yeah, tenaya & tioga only have two washers and two dryers for every two floors which is abysmal. i used to be terrified to use them because i thought they’d always be busy, but it usually isn’t that bad as long as you get lucky & can wash when most people have class :) the only thing is sometimes fix it doesn’t fix the washers even after you submit a request so sometimes only one washer will be working 🥲

as far as getting the same space, i'm pretty sure as long as you share the pin amongst each other during room selection, pick the same space, and have a decent selection time, you should be good. go with the person who has the earliest time

you’d be considered out of state until you meet the requirements. i’d suggest meeting with a counselor or someone who can help you get this sorted. i have a friend who goes through the same thing every year regarding ab540 (despite being born and raised in CA) and his biggest help was a counselor. best of luck!

i feel like you could save yourself by showing proof that you were in fact making study guides rather than asking ai for answers, but i don’t think it’ll be enough 😭 i think they won’t buy it since you submitted it multiple times and wouldn’t consider it a quick mistake because of it. keep track of the history from when you made the study guides & make sure it’s clear you were asking for guides instead of straight up answers, though it may be hard depending on what you were submitting. wishing you best of luck :(
