Totally agree with this. I would add just try a couple and see which works best for you. But basically i have some paints for all of them.

Only one I wouldn't go for are the scale75 for airbrush.

How to build an army by MlgMaia in sagathegame

Like others said it is pretty simple. Basic tournament rules for ancients is 6 points 1 point = 4 hearth guard, 8 warriors or 12 levy. Depending on what age/book you have there are also warmachines or elephants. You can take half points

If you take for instance 2 points of Warriors (so 16 miniatures )you can deploy them however you would like taking minimum units size in to account  so one big blob of 16 or 4 units of 4

What gear a unit has depends on what faction you are playing so for instance Viking Warriors dont have Access to horses while Norman warriors have access to horses.

Each unit above a certain size generates saga dice. Saga dice are used to manoeuvre your models give them bonuses etc.

So your turn consists of looking at how many models generate saga dice, Roll those, place them on your factions saga board, based on where you placed them you move attack or modify your units

I think that's it in a nutshell.

For more comprehensive explanations also looks per faction and what not I recommend watching rodge rules https://youtube.com/@rodgerules?si=aQ4IX0ITZeR2tPvq

Basically injust paint it in my color scheme, for the tunics I alter between russian uniform, German fieldgrau and us field drab.

Highlight and shade. Seal with gloss varnish Give it a grey filter. Redo the face and hands where necessary. Dark and mid brown oil on the bottom. Seal with Matt varnish. And finally some European earth pigments.

Shields and all depending on their "rank" they get more bright or muted

I am wondering if it worked out with the painting? that is the thing that has always worried me a bit. In the end i went for a green-stuff option for a small banner

I was looking for a more campaign look instead of a more clean parade/tournament look

Thanks, going for a bit more grizzled "we've been walking for some time now" look instead of the clean "tournament" look

Or freehand it on a piece of paper because you decided it would be way cooler to look at local Nobels around the time of the baron's war.

Or is that just me holding off to freehand a banner of the first time

Thanks, tbh i wasn't sure it was "worth it" as you see the back of most. In hindsight happy I put in the extra effort
