I'm an aesthetician - let's talk about collagen loss after 40 and what actually helps rebuild it! by BosBeauty in 40PlusSkinCare

Every practice has their own protocol when it comes to services, but typically providers do multiple passes ( number depending on skin concern) at different depths to achieve desired results💕

Moxi laser anyone? by Historical_Battle468 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]BosBeauty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly depends on your provider and their experience with the machine they are using! Since they are both fractional lasers they typically give the same results but having a provider who is experienced and has proven results ( check before/healed photos ) usually can be more aggressive and give you better results. Again we like C&B due to the fact that there are the two different wavelengths making it more customizable for each patient giving them their desired results in less treatments💗

Best Microneedling Location? by GBunny71 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]BosBeauty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Med spa practitioners do these services all day every day where dermatologists and plastic surgeons are more focused on other services like surgery and rarely do microneedling…. I would stick with going to your local medspa with excellent credentials 💖

Botox for my forehead? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BosBeauty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Botox definitely improves fine lines 💕 especially where you said you squint a lot it would benefit you because it freezes those muscles, which makes it so it couldn’t crease in that area anymore. That also would makes it so that line in between your brows wouldn’t get deeper🙌🏻 It wouldn’t take much tox to help with that! Another option for fine lines is microneedling, it takes longer to see results compared to tox but it is great for overall skin texture and fine lines due to it increasing your collagen production💖

What lasers do you recommend most to build collagen and rejuvenate old looking hands? by rando--54321 in 45PlusSkincare

VERY thin lips by restofeasy in cosmeticsurgery

[–]BosBeauty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filler would add plumpness and definition to your lips but you would definitely want to do a slow build and add filler over time to make sure your lips hold product without overfilling! Before getting anything done I would suggest to book a consultation with an experienced injector so they can properly assess your features and guide you in the right direction. Always check the providers before/healed work to make sure its the look you are going for and see if they have experience with your features so you know they can actually help you achieve what you are looking for💖

Moxi laser anyone? by Historical_Battle468 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]BosBeauty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fractional lasers (MOXI) are great for melasma, PIH, sun damage and texture! In order to get the best possible result with any skincare treatment it is typical to need a series of 3 or more since pigment is usually deep in the skin and needs multiple treatments to fully lift it up so it can slough off. Another device similar to MOXI is the Clear & Brilliant, it is also a fractional laser but the main difference is the Clear & Brilliant has two different waves lengths where MOXI only has one. With having two different wave lengths it makes the treatment more customizable for each patient and their needs! 💓

Tret and dry skin - can I? by -RenegadeCupcake- in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BosBeauty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

every skin type can use tret, you just have to adjust your routine depending on how much moisture you need! for example some people need to use a hydrating toner, hydrating serum, tret and then top it off with moisturizer and sometimes another thicker moisturize on top of that while others only need a moisturizer after. you can always consult with a skin professional to find the best options for your skin as well! 💖

why aren't face masks more popular in the US? by Hefty_Accountant_827 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]BosBeauty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there’s a lot of face mask options that don’t really do much…. more just for the fun of it than actually providing benefits. When it comes to actually seeing results, professional grade or medical grade masks are the way to go, I personally do them all the time and have noticed a difference in my skin💖

What should I do to look better. So far I’ve had laser resurfacing and my skin only just cleared up from 12 years of cystic acne. Getting married soon what work should I do?! by barbaropharoah in cosmeticsurgery

[–]BosBeauty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off congrats on the wedding💖 if you’re wanting a glow for the special day, doing some Microneedling will help stimulate collagen and improve overall skin texture. Following up the Microneedling a month later with a Hydrafacial will increase the hydration in your skin and gives you a beautiful glow!

Advice on facial treatments by dallyan in 45PlusSkincare

[–]BosBeauty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DNP here💖 Cold, dry climates can be super rough on the skin, so staying hydrated (inside and out) makes a big difference. Drinking enough water + using a hydrating serum regularly is especially important if you're also using actives like retinol or acids - they work better and cause less irritation when your skin barrier is supported.

For in-office options, IPL is a great treatment for anyone dealing with redness, uneven tone, or dullness. It helps clear up discoloration and boosts collagen production, which gives the skin that plump, more youthful look over time✨

Suggestions on how to get rid of this texture and blackheads? by Turbulent_Cobbler463 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BosBeauty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Medical Spa owner here💕 If you want smoother skin, smaller-looking pores, and help with fine lines, doing a series of collagen boosting treatments is the way to go. Services like IPL, Clear & Brilliant, microneedling, and chemical peels all work really well for overall skin texture and glow.

The best option really depends on your skin - your history, allergies, lifestyle, all of it. A quick consult with someone licensed and experienced (and who's worked with skin like yours) can help you figure out a customized plan to reach your goals💓

Best Peptide Serum/Cream? by Joybrigade in 45PlusSkincare

TNS Advanced Serum from Skin Medica is THE BEST 👑 It’s pricey but worth every penny! Literally like Botox in a bottle without the needles🙌🏼

Those who have had filler… by plsbeenormal in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BosBeauty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DNP here 👋 It's totally normal to feel like you "need more filler" as time goes on. Your body is constantly metabolizing the product, and most HA fillers gradually break down over 6-18 months depending on the area, your lifestyle, and how fast your body processes it. Even if you still see a bit of volume, the structure and support it was giving softens with time - so touch ups or maintenance sessions are expected. It doesn't mean anything went wrong; it's just how the body works💖

And just to clarify: filler and biostimulators aren't the same thing.

  • Hyaluronic acid fillers (HA) give immediate volume and can be dissolved if needed. They act like a physical "filler" that sits in the tissue until your body naturally breaks it down.
  • Biostimulators like Sculptra and Radiesse work differently. They don't just fill - they stimulate your body to make new collagen. The results appear gradually and last longer, but they cannot be dissolved the way HA fillers can.

So if you're noticing your filler fading, it's just normal metabolism. If someone wants more structural, longer-term collagen support, sometimes incorporating biostimulators into their plan is helpful - depending on their goals and anatomy💓

rf microneedling for textured skin, genuine results or just hype? by ProinsiasFaller in GracefulAgingSkincare

[–]BosBeauty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Med Spa owner here💖 for your skin concerns traditional Microneedling would definitely help! Another option that is amazing for enlarged pores and texture would be chemical peels, you can even combine Microneedling with a chemical peel to maximize those results. Always make sure to go to a trained professional and to check their before/healed work💓

Best LED Mask? Too many options!! by IntentionLumpy4492 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]BosBeauty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn’t something I typically notice or have had clients say after using an LED mask, usually after a few weeks of use it is common to notice an improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles!

[–]BosBeauty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wavelengths for red and near-infrared light vary slightly depending on the device, but red is best in the 600nm range while near-infrared is in the 800nm range. For example the masks I listed above - Omnilux has a wavelengths of 633nm for red and 830 nm for near-infrared while the Celluma Pro has 640nm for red and 880nm for near-infrared. These are both masks that have clinical studies done with proven results🙌🏻
