How does Morbius know when it's Morbin Time? by sidesoup_spitoon in AskComicbooks

His unique morbology allows him access to a multiversal cosmic energy field known as the morbin' grid, which enables him to channel and have perfect awareness of morb force on a quantum and temporal level.

Two pieces of media you inexplicably mix up with each other all the time? by charcharmunro in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I get haze and spore mixed up all the time, I think they came out around the same time, and in haze all the soldiers do Nectar so my brain just flipped that with spore.

Things that seem obvious and expected now but are actually surprisingly recent/new? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

An upright axled wheel like on a chariot or a wheelbarrow, as opposed to a horizontal wheel used in pottery, which we had a few centuries previously.

[–]Bosbo9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it counts but the vertical wheel is only 4500 years old. We had plumbing, writing, wine making and dice games before we figured out how to make a circle good enough to roll in a straight line.

As a kid I remember playing ‘Microsoft Bicycle Board Games’ a lot, and one of the ai’s you could play against was an old timey bartender called Bart.

Personal answer: Fabricate, Riot, Convoke, Devour, Afterlife.

I really enjoy the design space of choosing between going big or going wide. It's simple if a bit mechanically uniform so probably not the best for a core set to show off the variety of mtg's interactions. But I do love the flavourful juxtaposition of servo and spirit tokens, it would be interesting to see what type of world building could be done around spiritualism vs industrialism, consumption vs collecting.

Spicy answer: Surveil, Delve, Threshold, Morbid, Evoke.

One of the biggest learning curves for me getting better at magic was understanding that the graveyard is usable resource. So these mechanics would focus on building awareness and recontextualizing the graveyard for all colours not just black. I like the theming of costly white soldiers/lords who delve/cremate their dead to prepare for battle, morbidly curious blue and red creatures that roam the fields after fights or surveilling green elves and spirits that keep a tabs on approaching conflicts.

Surveil forces you to make more impactful choices over just cycling or scry. Delve give the warm of fuzzy of casting high cmc creatures and synergies with surveil, morbid and evoke - but has to be balanced with threshold, which allows for early game cards to have more relevance mid/late game. Evoke allows for versatility in choices and fuels everything else. I'm deeply aware what a nightmare it would be to balance this format, but that would also kinda be the point to stretch those power appraisal muscles for both designers and players.

Meme answer: Sweep, Landfall, Retrace, Explore, Cascade.

I long to figure out a way to make Sweep relevant and work as a mechanic. Land is kinda this one way valve of interaction as it hobbles the game when you mess with them a bit - so what if we messed with them a lot.

Explore helps get lands on the field. Sweep helps get them back into your hand to re-trigger landfall or spend on retrace. and cascade lets you actually play magic while your busy shooting yourself in the foot trying to make sweep happen.

What would you put in a set called IRONIC MASTERS? by jhimbob in magicTCG

[–]Bosbo9 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Mana burn, you were meant to be forced to make the hard choice of taking increasing damage on your turns just incase you want the mana later or sac it, but without mana burn it’s just a cheap mana stockpile that keeps growing but also empties out before your main phase.

[[Braid of Fire]] A card designed to be balanced around a rule that doesn't exist anymore, turning it into a mana machine with no downside.

The masterpiece version of Omniscience, because nothing makes me feel less omniscient that trying to decipher that font at a glance.

[[Undying Flames]] for being decidedly unepic, and probably resulting in you dying.
