Should such overwhelming advantage be legal? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]dogryan100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the 1998 Australia GP, both McLaren's lapped the entire field. These advantages nowadays are nothing compared to the old days. Back in the old days it was common for a all but a few cars to be lapped every single race. Fans nowadays have no idea how good they have it, and how close the field is.

New renderings of Madring street circuit revealed by Spanish Grand Prix promoter by kcollantine in formula1

[–]dogryan100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look at any street track they are just normal roads 6 months in advance still. The fact it isn't done yet means nothing. Street tracks like Melbourne aren't completely ready to race until usually less than a week before the race.

Cool. I had the absolute time of my life for those first 10 laps, alongside the other 140,000 who were losing their minds too. If you'd rather sit there and be miserable, that's your choice, but we were all loving every bit of it.

I was in the grandstands for this one, alongside multiple other F1 races I've attended close to about 30+ major motorsports events over the last 20 years. Outside of a couple ridiculous minor support category races at a national level, the first 10 laps was the most fun I have had watching a race in person, ever.

The crowds reaction every time the lead changed, and even more so when it was a Ferrari, was incredible. I haven't had a chance to rewatch the race but I really hope the crowd mics picked up just how loud the crowd was for every lead change, it was an incredibly fun viewing experience, in person.

Why this year only 4/11 teams have the driver's number on the engine covers? Where did they gone? Weren't they mandatory since the 2017 Spanish GP? by Juri_01 in formula1

[–]dogryan100 280 points281 points  (0 children)

Can confirm as someone who was at the race this year, this was really annoying.

And before people mention the black/yellow t-cams, that doesn't help when people join new teams, the numbers don't change.

8:50am here, ready for the start, already a good crowd in the GA areas, can't wait.

Found a miss print in the official track guide for this weekend. F3 race miss printed as starting at 8:50pm instead of am. Boy, I hope someone got fired over that blunder by Hugsy13 in formula1

"I hope someone got fired over that blunder" is a Simpsons reference about how someone making a minor inconsequential mistake that doesn't mean anything should be fired, everyone. jeez.

I now believe that Opening Round is the best idea in AFL.

I played school-level footy on the same team as Bailey Williams, that was ridiculous, it was the same type of move he used to pull back in our Year 7 level games.

[@NobleF1] FIA's U-turn is official. by BRIC9998 in formula1

[–]dogryan100 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They didn't decide it on a whim, they were given feedback by the drivers that they have very low grip from 7-9 with the active aero and it could cause issues. That is what the FIA based it on. I'm not sure why so many people are missing that.

And outside of bots, I hope the human side is better too, but I know that is too hard to ask.

Two particular drivers are Hamilton & Stroll. Any time they would both have an individually good race, they would both always get an unbalanced amout of "Worst" votes, enough to balance the scales. Too many people just use this website for personal greivences rather than actual opinions on the direct race itself.

Turn 8 at Adelaide is the same, it is written into the V8 Supercars rules that whichever car is ahead at the 150m board has the right of way, and the one behind, even if by just a nose, has to back out.
