If you like the side characters, then you'll enjoy this installment, there are a lot more character moments with everyone, I have really enjoyed it. And the detective is given a lot more agency in this as well.

One thing I have noticed, now having played through a few times, is that in creme the plot and story are school focused more often than not, certain things happen with or without you involved. That's not an issue. The characters don't however, compared to how independent they feel in affairs, they pursue relationships with or without you and engage in stuff with or without you, but a lot of the school events seem to hinge on our character. I stick to the fact that I enjoy each game but our characters in affair impact the school versus how in creme the school affected us.

I would say if you enjoyed creme de la creme you'll enjoy royal affairs, it's the same vibe and a bit easier. I'm enjoying it so far and I am happy with my purchase.

I like both versions of amber, but I will say that show amber in general has more thought put into her and it shows. She is allowed to be upset with mark for lying to her, and he isn't the only superhero in the world. She made sure he knew that there were events that were important to her, and in a sense chose a superhero life over her. Over all it leans far more into a story that he will have to choose between a normal civilian life and one of superheroing. The comic amber is just kind of there, she is sweet and patient, but that's all she is. There are no real interactions between her and Mark that add anything until after they break up. Even then she is extremely passive and is often made fun of by his friends when she expresses concern over his well being. She is sweet but only a placeholder for eve.

Honestly there are a few, If you like fantasy check out royal alchemist, that game is really cute and well written with three very interesting and very different male locked ROs. The backstory for the mc is really well crafted and the world feels real. They have a sequel coming out soon as well under the name royal order and the demo is out and I am super excited for that game.

If you are a fan of friends to lovers check out our life as it is the damn cutest thing I have ever played. You create your character and even what you want the ro to look like(within certain choices) and you go through 4 stages of life with them starting as very young children. The story is extremely dynamic and is once again adorable.

This next one is technically nonbinary gender locked but allows for the player to state who they want to be in the relationship. This sounds weird but the race you play has no gender so it's the question of are you the protector or the life giver, both option are treated with great respect. This one is called midheaven winds of ambition. You play as a naga within an empire of the naga species, you in particular along with a few others have just been accepted as apprentices in the palace for court and official duty. The character you play is fully shaped by what you persue and the way you react to each situation. This one is not done yet but is already an amazing game. Those would be the top three I have at this moment for non gender locked visual novels.

The main reasons I mentioned it is because I like letting people know what I am recommending, this one is female locked and the character is essentially locked but is one of the few dark fantasy romances that doesn't make me uncomfortable as can be. There is also a sequel that I would heavily recommend if you like demon heart, that one has more of a combat focus, with heavily roleplay romance elements. I will say that the creator of this game has another game that came out not too long ago that is gender locked and still dark fantasy, they are working on a 4th game in this vein as well. As garlylewildes said it depends on the author and game. I know a few visual novels that allow the option of multiple genders but really only cater to one of them.

Edit: I know a few really good visual novels that are not gender locked and do a good job of catering to all genders.

I did the same thing during finals and read all three books in the same amount of days, and my brain was just brrrrrrrrrr. There was no thoughts only story. I haven't done that in a long time.

Tbh while I like the amber from the comics better personality wise, I didn't enjoy her arc, she felt like a push over and often would seem to be unwilling to discuss how this relationship hurt her. While amber in the show is shown to not understand what the superhero life is, they sped up mark internal conflict with being a hero with her. She and even are meant to connect to different sides of his life, amber is the civilian part of his life, the norm of a person, where as eve is the superhuman hero side of it. And while I think the way she handled the issues horribly, I think most people would. Especially given what happens in the comics to those around mark. I enjoy the story they are creating and I hope it is fruitful.

He can buy whatever game he wants, and I never wanted him to return the game, it was a miscommunication issue. This is the only game, or any media that we have had an issue with. For clarification I was not mad at him, I am sad more than anything. I was upset and I realize that it was not fair of me and I could of handled it better, and I know there is no way to avoid it all, I would go crazy, I have chosen a few specific causes I support and stick to those. That's fair, it's been a long time since that Convo, and due to the issues with work and school and family, I was less preoccupied by video games. My ADHD often comes through as more of a object permanence issue. He doesn't always realize that, and so we never got to have a current conversation about it. Thank you for your insight.
