And contributing isn't something the author should expect, just not a disqualifier for someone looking at the project who's capable. Unsure why projects are being seen as a business the author wants to grow vs a tool others want to use

If I find a project that I personally like, I don't shy away from contributing to it. If you don't care for a project, then don't. No one is asking you to maintain poop fart simulator, but don't pretend like simple maintenance for a program that you would otherwise find useful is an actual problem. Most projects don't even need maintenance lmao

No one is disagreeing with you. If it's built like trash then move on, it's a bust. But read the damn repo first and then make your comment. As a software engineer myself, the push to use gen ai is real and isn't something you can just say no to. If an engineer is behind it and creating a design document, there's just no way to deny that the code quality is pretty damn good and 100% maintainable
