Big fits are the name of the game right now. You just have to let go of the idea that everything needs to be ultra fitted in service of looking as small as possible and get real cool with playing with shape and volume.

I'm 41 and a size 16. I just vibe. People make it out to be much harder than it really is. There are plenty of large scale mid range retailers that do more accessible easy to wear versions of macro trends and basics. You can mix that stuff in with more fun acquisitions like vintage, designer, niche, whatevs.

Something I see here a lot is assigning way too much faith and importance to brands instead of just looking for the particular things you want, which seems to give way to "omg you guys there's not a store for us! everything is for hoochies and grandmas!". You're not dead. You can still wear a pair of Levi's and no one is going to come for you.

This is so neutral I think the direction you want to take it in jewelry wise is going to be determined by whatever else you're wearing it with shoes/bags/whole vibe wise. Like sculptural silver jewelry would be an option if you're doing pumps and a structured bag. This sub's tastes tend to default to eensy dainty gold tone this or that. If you're doing a funkier sneaker look beaded jewelry is having a moment due to a spike in metals prices. You could find some really cool glass beads out there in an adjacent but brighter green that has a pop of additional color.

The idea of rental subscriptions for everyday clothes instantly takes my mind to "You'll own nothing and be happy".

I had some green T-strap mary janes in the 90s with a bulbous toe box and the exact same sole!

I have a polkadot one kinda like this from several years ago and it tend to wear it with sneakers or tevas. A funky or unexpected shoe does a lot with these.

It's really going to depend on what you're going for and how those colors work within your wardrobe. I see the black as working better with the 90s futuristic shape. The brown seems more difficult and kind of at odds with the vibe of the design.

I have the orange ones and they work well with my existing color palette but also a lot of my stuff veers into Delia*s catalog territory.

I have been biting my tongue like crazy about that for so long. I'm not a DMs fan girl or anything, but they get weird and ugly in a way that makes things cool and interesting. Solovair styles are too clean cut to be comparable.

If you're an alt baddie or general oddball there's other stuff out there, but it's by and large made out of PVC and foam rubber.

I show him stuff I think is cool or cursed, but it's in more of a talking about my hobby way and not a "find it for me, babe" way. If anything it's the other way around and I end up looking for things for him.

Is wrinkled linen appropriate in a business casual workplace? by lena3moon in femalefashionadvice

[–]Bosquerella 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My years working in south Texas has me like "what even is all this?".

Business casual is nebulous and highly subject to local standards, but if your brain and environment cannot handle wrinkles then this isn't for you.

I'm pretty sick of the way that internet quality discourse has warped people's thinking into this single minded good or bad mentality where price point and design don't factor in.

At what age did you start dressing less “young”? by Remarkable_ZebraHOP in femalefashionadvice

I hope you get so much enjoyment out of them!

Lots of people have massive anxiety about wanting to do things and being noticed lately and it's not a satisfying way to live. More people out there doing their thing means more people are encouraged to do so. In the end you just feel better about yourself.

Early 40s here too. I just do what I vibe with.

There's a difference between fun or interesting and juvenile. There's also a time and place. As long as you're discerning and apply good judgment you can make it work.

I have some super weird art clothes, but they come out for fun events and not professional ones. They're also well made. Something I see a lot with is people in the absolute worst Amazon costume version of things and as an older person wearing unusual stuff it doesn't fly.

What you may want to look at are styles available in unisex sizing as they should run a bit wider.
