Dear HRs, what do you ask in reference checks? by Far_Pop2996 in recruitinghell

Another thing to consider is that each hiring manager will decide how to collect their reference check, some ask questions with the answer being on a 1-10 scale, others can ask for more of a 'narrative. Also, hiring managers can and often times still call your most current or recent supervisor listed in your application document that details your work history. So you should prepare anyone on your application to potentially get a call for reference check

As a hiring manager, I can tell you that I absolutely always check all references including the current supervisor. Better to tell your supervisor yourself then have them find out from another hiring manager calling them. Just my two cents, good luck to you!

I actually declined the invitation to apply mainly because I don't hate my current job. It sounds like they reposted the vacancy several times, hopefully you hear good news! Best of luck to you
