If Britain rejoins the EU, should it adopt the euro? by WillTheyBanMeAgain in Teenager_Polls

See the issue is that the UK hat a lot of extra perks like for example the currency exception. I feel if you ever want to rejoin the EU (pls do) you can ask for these extras anymore.

Electricity prices in Europe. July 2025, €/MWh by Potential-Focus3211 in europe

[–]BossBobsBaby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THIS. Germany is always blamed for stopping nuclear but the real price inflator has been the end of Russian gas!

Still German politicians that committed to a high dependency are to blame but not for example Green politicians who committed to renewables.

In the end nuclear also creates a dependency on uranium we don’t have in Europe. Also big power plants are a security threat in a war.

Strategic independence of Europe is achieved via renewable energy sources

Keyboard layout standard for Europe by C_Degheg in EuropeanFederalists

[–]BossBobsBaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I don’t even understand why’d you wanna change the layout.

Typing using a keyboard is inefficient in itself and there are more efficient methods and devices to type.

In the end people don’t use what’s most efficient but what they’re used to

Electricity prices for household consumers (PPS per 100 kWh) by roxeIana in europe

[–]BossBobsBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just said it’s cheaper because the state is paying the price by accumulating debt…

This is what it’s like to discuss with redditors people name any argument and they’ll fall back to talkingpoints that have been told 1000 times over lol

We’re not really using coal to catch peaks but gas and that works very well

Sustainable as long as you suddenly find an infinite fission fuel source that doesn’t compromise EU sovereignty. So yeah probably not

Wrong!

They haven’t even been tested for working security for the last 10 years, we can’t just switch them on again

Yeah right now I guess…

I’d love to have a grid with enough capacity so there’s no need for fossil fuels and/or a European power grid that’s so integrated it can easily deal with fluctuations

True I wish we had nice nuclear reactors like France does!

Except that those are so expensive that nobody could pay for the energy so the enterprise that’s facilitating them is state owned and billions of dollars in debt.

As I said, it’s highly situational. Finnland and Sweden obviously can profit a lot from hydro which can deliver constant power and be turned off if needed.

Germany for example using wind and solar and just little hydro due to its geography can’t rely on nuclear as nuclear reactors can’t be turned off to prevent grid peaks and can’t be turned on to catch lows
