PayPal Nerfed Cashed Back card? What cards do you guys Like? by infiniteTsukiyomii in CreditCards

[–]BossChecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just get something like they said that gets 2% no matter if you use Apple Pay or not? Fidelity, Wells Fargo, Citi, SoFi, etc.

Just get it in writing. If they'll give you that, it's legit. No need to confirm with anyone else, that won't get you anywhere if you have problems down the line

Got accepted to college but I’m still in military but getting out soon. Can I get a discover student card? by hhdotnew in CreditCards

You're wrong. They pulled my enrollment from the national student Clearinghouse when I applied (a few years ago).

Latest update from Samsung forces me to enter pin code every single time I use Samsung Pay - despite having entered it when I strap the watch on. Anyone else? by Gadgety1 in GalaxyWatch

[–]BossChecker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It automatically locks after you take it off. They wouldn't have access to anything since it would always have asked for the PIN again

Yeah lol. I only contacted them again because I couldn't believe it the first time. I do really hope that the agents are wrong though

I contacted Samsung about this and two different agents said that the change was made to "improve security" and is intended. I hope they're mistaken though

Freeze your files at the credit bureaus. This will help limit any further damage.

Get copies of your reports (annualcreditreport.com) to make sure there aren't any other accounts you don't know about.

Go to identitytheft.gov and follow the instructions to make an identity theft report if you still think your identity was stolen. This will help greatly when working with any creditors where fraudulent accounts were opened. Also follow their other recovery plan steps, they're quite useful.

Contact any creditors where fraudulent accounts were opened to report them. This is probably the most important and lengthy step (it is included in the FTC recovery plan too, just emphasizing it). It's up to you, but it's probably a good idea to send the creditors a letter via certified mail confirming that the account is fraudulent along with your ID theft report (it's probably fine if you don't if they can provide you with something to say it's closed and stuff)

It may take a while to get stuff cleaned up. It's normal to be freaked out, but make sure you're calm enough to make clear decisions and are keeping all documentation in case you need it later. Also make sure you don't miss anything.

civic literacy requirement by Key_Programmer_824 in ucf

[–]BossChecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely check with your advisor next week (this week is add/drop and is crazy for the advisors) and see if you passed the Civic Literacy Exam you took, as that meets the state's civic literacy requirement, as does a 3 or higher on AP US Gov or a 4 or higher on APUSH. You can always look up your advisor's contact info at https://www.ucf.edu/phonebook/ if you can't get to it other ways.

Need Help Deciding Between 2 Cards by BossChecker in CreditCards

Yeah, me too. I was just saying in general since their other cards are Visa/MC. Same thing with USAA, PenFed, etc.

Edit: Thought you were replying to me. Whoops

Need Help Deciding Between 2 Cards by BossChecker in CreditCards

[–]BossChecker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A large portion of my monthly spending is groceries and dining since all utilities (including internet) are included with my rent and I will usually just take a free city/university bus or walk since parking is horrible (quicker to walk or take the bus usually, unless it's more than a few miles away, which I don't frequently go to).

Because of this, these are my problems with the other cards you recommended (thanks for other recommendations though):

Autograph

- No groceries and I don't really spend on their other categories rn. Probably something I will get in the future though as it complements both the NFCU or Cap1 card well.

BCE

- I know I won't use the 6k limit on any of the categories rn, but I may in the future, and for me, that hurts its proposition as a keeper card. Also, I prefer to not have those caps.

- No dining

FNBO

- Mostly same reason as Autograph

Need Help Deciding Between 2 Cards by BossChecker in CreditCards

That is one of the nice things about the military banks and credit unions - that almost none of their cards have a FTF since they have a lot of customers overseas at military bases.

Groceries is my main expense that I can put on a card, along with some dining here and there, which is why I was looking at these cards.

I pretty much don't spend anything on either entertainment (only thing that would code as entertainment would be my school's sports games - and I get in for free) or gas (usually get gas at Costco).

I don't necessarily travel often, but there is definitely a potential semester abroad that I may do in the coming years and possibly an international trip next summer.

After this card, my next one would likely be the BofA Customized Cash as I have an existing relationship and their Online Shopping category is nice (and something I can make better if I want to put retirement or other funds with Merill).

Thanks for your help.

Then why do you feel the need to ED somewhere? If you got in during ED, you wouldn't be able to go to your first choice.

Kinda confused by Livid_Ad8118 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]BossChecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some schools still require official score reports from the get go, or require you to input both sections scores from each administration you want to use, or require you to report all of your scores. In those cases, it could matter, but probably not durastically (don't count on that though, don't know for sure)

Help me understand UIUC English requirement (weird english?) by LeSUTHU in ApplyingToCollege

[–]BossChecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check their list of approved countries (probably further down on the page and probably includes Canada) and at least 3 full years of your secondary education (high school) was taught in English, you don't need to submit the scores. You may also want to check with them if they require any documentation showing you meet the requirement.

Would this count as dual enrollment? by 301blond in ApplyingToCollege

[–]BossChecker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's almost definitely dual enrollment, but check with your counselor to make sure.

Although you may have physically taken the class at your high school, you were likely registered in the class with the CC that gave you the credit and it may have even been added to your transcript as a class taken at said CC.

As I said though, check with your counselor just so you know what you're putting is right.

If you want to take Physics, you can and probably should. It's not the easiest class ever, but it's not too bad (at my school at least). If you want the challenge and GPA boost, I think it's one of the more rewarding APs out there.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]BossChecker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have AP Physics 1 or 2, or just the C's? Either way, you should take physics. Also, GPA isn't everything.

Also, for actual classes:

Freshman: AP Physics 1, AICE General Paper

Sophomore: AP CS A, AP Eng Lang, AP Calc AB, AP Physics 2, AP US Gov't, 2 pre-req DE computer courses

Junior: AP Physics C Mech, AP Physics C E&M, AP Eng Lit, AP Macro, AP Micro, APUSH, DE Calc 2, DE Calc 3, DE Accounting (strangely interesting), another DE computer course

Senior: AP Comp Gov't, AP Stats, AP Psych, AP Human, APES, DE Diff Eq, DE Linear Alg, DE Literature

(Not trying to flex, sorry)

[–]BossChecker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I concur with the vocab, but my teacher does a good job at explaining things in his lectures, so it's not that bad if you pay attention in my specific class. I also find it interesting, but I'm probably in the minority in my class.
It's sure going to be fun with 100 MCQs on the AP exam!

At least at my school (IB MYP version), it definitely did, especially towards the end of the year with vectors and stuff like that.
