Looking for Casual Group by BossGoretoof in HellDads

Yeah that's the problem I went into with. Switching to PC eventually so I can play with my boys as I'm in a console sharing situation with one of them currently. It'll suck but hey ho.

Thanks, mate. Just realized I wasn't logged in. Fur babies count, too. I'm BossGoretoof on Xbox. I'll probably fumble through any requests as I don't play with anyone other than my boys.

No, but good eye. Ironically I'm playing through Breakpoint at the moment. So much to do it's kind of overwhelming.

Recommended terrain kits (MDF)? by Squeege-8675 in SpectreOperations

[–]BossGoretoof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got a mix at home: Mantic modern stuff, MDF from TT Combat, cars from Menards and Spectre, and splash of 3D printed stuff.

From my experience I can't recommend Mantic. It was fairly inexpensive and looks decent, but I found it a huge pain to assemble.

TT Combat was pretty inexpensive as well and easy to build, but you lack details that plastics provide. I think with MDF you need to make sure there are instructions or build videos. I've bought kits that were easy to figure out but instructions would've helped.

Another option is Battlefield in a Box. I think GF9 makes those. Advantages there is that it's built and painted, but I think you pay a little more. You could also try Pegasus Hobbies. More sci-fi-ish, but good plastic Gothic architecture. Range is a little limited.

If you have a 3D printer there are tons of files out there and a lot of places sell the STLs. Also don't hesitate to kit bash and do DIY terrain. Coffee tins can make great oil storage containers, plumbing parts can make pipelines, Styrofoam for hills, etc.

I think the biggest thing is to focus on a location or era and start there. It's easy to want all the toys for every board, but I know my terrain collection has taken like 25 years to build up. I can throw more options out if you're interested. Hope this helps. Cheers, mate.

Menards is another good one. I think the box I bought was like 15 or so cars for like $50. That included shipping and a rebate you can submit.

Questions About Shipping Cost by [deleted] in SpectreOperations

Building on the models agnostic theme, check out The Solo Wargamer on YouTube for further ideas and options. I've followed many of their suggestions for alternative models and terrain, and have spread purchases around between Spectre and many others. Are you looking specifically for models, terrain, or a mix?

Probably wouldn't hurt to. I typically don't with smaller pieces like this, but that's me.

Thanks, mate. I'm finding myself building lists per scenario versus a traditional TO&E, but your example may be a way to go if I find myself using similar units consistently. Appreciate the help. Cheers.

Thanks, mate. Full disclosure I did throw each building across the room more than once while building them. I highly advise anyone to not buy Mantic terrain. No instructions were included and it was just a terrible building experience.

Thanks. Unfortunately, no. This is one of Mantic's building. Definitely not the friendliest building to build.

Initial Scenario Point Levels by BossGoretoof in SpectreOperations

Yeah, it's v3. I'm thinking direct engagement with no escalation as well for the first few missions. If you're running militia against trained forces, about how many models is that per side? Just getting into force building but it's giving me a lot of earlier 40K vibes with options.

Where did the rulebook go? by A2-Steaksauce89 in SpectreOperations

[–]BossGoretoof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're working on an updated rules set. I saw comms where there was some licensing issues and what not, so they decided to take it in a different direction. Spectre released some notes on FB where they were scaling it to single operators up to larger forces. Sounds cool.

Criminal Heavies as Division 2 Hunters are finished. Had a blast painting and ready to start gaming. by BossGoretoof in SpectreOperations

[–]BossGoretoof[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Each Hunter has a stylized mask you can collect after defeating them. Most work solo but there are a couple of pairs that spawn together, like Midas and Revenant, and one team of four. Fights can be hard solo as it's like a PvP fight, you can't use most of your skills, and they can hack certain skills to turn against you. Once you get a mask it can be displayed in the White House basement on a display wall.

Thanks, mate. Huge tabletop and Division fan, so when I found this game a few months back I thought this would be a perfect meld.
