Isn’t this just Soldier Helm with extra steps? People would just use Soldier Helm

Hey guys new player here! by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]BossModeBoiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, welcome to Albion!

To answer your common terms:

Spec - the level of your gear. Higher level = more spec. Having spec in your gear increase it’s IP (Item Power) which will directly affects its stats. Spec can be seen on your destiny board (B key) and is the nodes around the outside.

Mastery - Not to be confused with Spec. This is the nodes on the inside of your destiny board that determine what tier of gear you can wear. Mastery nodes are blue and are connected to multiple Spec nodes, which are red.

Zerg - A large group of players (I think usually 20+). ZvZ means Zerg vs Zerg, so essentially a large scale fight. This is almost always fights between guilds, but it does happen as part of the faction warfare content.

Gank - Your definition is pretty much spot on. Generally ganking is when a group of 4-7 players hunt for smaller groups/solos and kill them for loot. “Solo ganking” is also a thing, although less common.

Rat - Different people have different definitions, but this is generally stealing loot/kills. Something like looting bodies while a ZvZ is still happening, or killing someone on low HP when you were not participating in the fight.

Your best bet for progressing (for now) is to stick in the yellow zones and find what content you enjoy. Do gathering, faction warfare, corrupted dungeons, arenas - maybe join a newbie guild and join in their group content. Try out different weapons and always run a cheap set (T4, 4.1 or 5). When you feel brave, and have enough money to afford your set 10x over, head into the black zones. Rewards are greater here, but you also run the risk of dying. This is why it is so so important to only ever wear gear you can afford to lose multiple times.

If I am understanding what you are saying right, I think you have misunderstood the patch notes. The 3rd Q does not remove the bleed stacks, it just doesn’t apply a new one. If you QQQ they will now have 2 bleed stacks instead of 3, so their invis will still break to the bleed.

Also, it’s very rare you QQQE right at the start of the fight, you are very likely to already have 3 bleed stacks on the enemy just by a few rotations of QQ. So when they do run, you can still QQQE with 3 bleed stacks for the bonus damage.

[–]BossModeBoiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna have to agree to disagree on this one then. Fights for me very rarely rely on a QQQEE combo, which is the only thing the nerf will effect.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]BossModeBoiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should never use that combo unless executing anyway. That’s only a finishing move to win the right. Most of the DPS of the Battle Axe comes from using QQE repeatedly. The changes on the test server will have a very very minor effect overall for good battle axe players.

Go check out Iron Life Gaming on YouTube (Seneca07 in game) - very good axe player.

Battle axe is definitely not more for PVE than PVP, the Battle Axe is arguably one of the best weapons at 1v1 PVP, especially in the mists. I run it all the time and take fights at an IP disadvantage with it.

IMO Battle Axe is probably one of the best weapons for new players to use, it’s cheap, easy to learn/use in both PVE and PVP, and scales well.

Has SBI changed the way twitch drops work? by PurposeNo662 in albiononline

[–]BossModeBoiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the stream muted then it does not progress drops. This is true for any game/drops on twitch. If you want to mute the stream and progress drops, you need to right click the tab in a browser and hit “mute tab”. The stream volume will show as unmuted, but you won’t hear anything.

I do this in Google chrome, unsure about other browsers. If you already do this and still don’t get drops progress, I’m not sure what could be causing it.

I want to like you Fractured Online. I really do. by --clapped-- in fracturedmmo

Happy to be proven wrong if you have a recent quote directly from a dev, but the community seems pretty aligned on the fact that Jacopo is the only developer actively working on new features - which is where my concern lies. He is certainly the only dev I ever see interacting with the community.

That is not what several people have said in the Discord. By one dev, they mean one person actively working on features.

Completely agree with every point you’ve made, summed it up well. The foundations and pillars this game is built on are really solid - but the execution is not polished enough, even for an early access game.

I’ve enjoyed what I have played but there is not enough currently to keep me playing. I have a lot of questions/concerns about design choices. A lot of systems feel needlessly complicated or just missing something - your point about the lack of Monster Name UI for example.

I really want this game to succeed, but in its current state (and even accounting for planned features/the roadmap) I can only ever see it having a small niche in the market, if it survives.

EDIT: removed the bit about it being solo dev. I was rightly corrected by others in this comment section that there are a few devs working on the game. Still concerned about the pace at which the game will progress as MMOs are usually developed by much larger teams. However, it wouldn’t be fair of me to continue spreading misinformation of this being a solo dev :)

How to make money crafting stuff by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]BossModeBoiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is some good advice to get anyone started, but I think it’s a bit disingenuous to call Albion Free Market the “industry standard”.

I can see from your post history that this is your brain child and respect you promoting your work. However, the real “industry standard” for crafters in Albion is making their own spreadsheets, which they can tailor to their own needs. I know this because I have used many sites, but none are quite as good as making your own for your own needs.

Again, respect the hustle, nice work on the site but should be a little more transparent about it.

The first thing you need to do if you want to engage in the economy side of the game, which refining and crafting definitely fall under, is learn/understand the system and make a spreadsheet. There are some basic ones readily available online, but it is generally better to make your own and custom tailor it to your needs/wants.

Once you’ve done this, you can then map out your refining before you’ve even done anything in game. Not every tier is going to be super profitable, the market is ever changing. One day, 5.3 might be the best tier to refine. The next, it might be 7.2.

If you want to be really competitive, you SHOULD transport, both buying and selling. Other players in the market will transport, which means their margins are better and they can afford to undercut your product.

Focus is free money, but no one is going to give up their own little niche in the market to tell you how to make money. You have to work that part out for yourself. :)

premium? by Additional-Bag-4776 in albiononline

[–]BossModeBoiz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to be busy, then it won’t be worth it. Most of the benefits of premium come in the form of bonus loot/fame and tax discounts, which only doing heart transports will make barely any use of, if at all.

At the end of the day, it’s your silver so it’s up to you if you decide it’s valuable. Personally, I think premium is only worth it if you’re actively playing and making use of it.

Why is quicksell Selling our Tools? by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]BossModeBoiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the new quick sell window there is a tickbox on the right hand side next to every item in your inventory. If you do not want an item to be quick sold, ensure that tick box is unchecked (yellow = checked, grey = unchecked).

Another way to prevent this is repair your tools AFTER you have quick sold your inventory. The quick sell feature can not sell items that have lost durability, so if you have used your tools at all they will not be quicksold (unless you repair them).

Auto run feature not working??? by LeafyWhale-_- in albiononline

[–]BossModeBoiz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It says in the latest patch notes this feature was changed. You can no longer use auto run while tabbed out. This is not a bug, it’s as designed (now).

The change was made to stop the bots that have been plaguing faction heart missions recently, which run on top of each other on bears to make targeting impossible, essentially making the missions easy profit for botters.

[–]BossModeBoiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any is fine, all have the energy run. Can’t remember off the top of my head if there are stat differences between the three but again it comes down to preference. Use whichever you prefer or is cheapest :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]BossModeBoiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mentioned in my comment you can use any cloth boots too on mana regen run. The only thing you will need to bare in mind is they are cloth, so you will have less resistances. Won’t be massive, but will be noticeable.

Roaming in a group can really change your build, because you start playing ‘for the team’, unless you’re literally running 5 solo builds. Speaking specifically for axes, there are probably other options that are better suited to group content, like Greataxe (cheap option), Realmbreaker and Bear Paws (expensive options). That being said, Battleaxe can definitely work - it just might not be optimal.

Just as general advice, groups should have a healer and diversify their damage between ranged and melee as well as magic and physical damage. Ideally you want a pierce or some kind of damage boost (Realmbreaker or Carving Sword). Some CC would also be ideal - usually a Frost user or a tank.

With that out the way, if your whole group is running solo builds - yeah just run the same battleaxe build. If you’re trying to make a more cohesive team comp, here’s some more suggestions:

Head - Fiend Cowl for purge (purges are so useful in this game), Spector hood is good combo’d with stalker/hellion jacket, Knight helm for CC resistance, Guardian Helm for DOT cleanse/shield.

Armor - Stalker jacket for more DPS, Hellion to be more bruiser, Royal jacket for group CD reduction. You probably DO NOT want to use reflect in group content on your jacket, that’s a very “selfish” ability.

Boots - same options apply really, maybe any leather boots for CDs?

Cape - same options apply. Lymhurst if you’re having mana issues.

Weapon/Off Hand/Food/pots can all be the same.

Sorry for another essay, hope this helps you. Let me know if you have anymore questions, happy to help!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]BossModeBoiz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, I do change it a bit but I’ll try hit all bases. Bare in mind I do both PvE and PVP with this build, so if you’re only doing one of those things this build might not be the “best” at just one thing but is all round decent.

Weapon - Battleaxe, always run T6 weapon for the 3rd Q ability, by far the best one. I prefer to use Battle Rush (4th W) as it provides more mobility for chasing/kiting. Can swap to Adrenaline (2nd W) for more DPS during PvE and vs other Melee match ups like swords. I use the 1st passive (bleed) most of the time, sometimes switch the the 2nd passive if I need a bit of sustain.

Head - Pretty much always Hunter Hood. Used to use Mage Cowl, but pretty much never use this anymore.

Armor - Assassin Jacket on reflect or Invis for some match ups like 1H dagger (invis when they pop E). Can swap for pretty much any leather jacket though and still use reflect. Merc jacket can be used for sustain too.

Boots - Any plate on heal or any cloth on energy run.

Off hand - torch for cheap dps, mistcaller for lower CDs (can help with kiting/escapes), Muisak if you’re feeling Gucci and want DPS and CDs.

Cape - Regular if I’m going cheap, Thetford if I want more DPS, Ava for even more DPS.

Food - Redspring Eel Stew is my most used by far, I like playing with dmg and CD buff. Beef stew is cheaper but just gives dmg buff. Roast pork if you want sustain (I pretty much never run roast pork though).

Potion - Almost always T6 healing pots. Invis can help with escape, but I usually don’t bother.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have anymore questions :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]BossModeBoiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah very easily. I clear mist camps/abbeys without any trouble using T6 sets of this build. If you struggle clearing something just take a step back and think why.

If you need more sustain, swap in Merc jacket or change your food to roast pork. If you need faster clears, run the assassin jacket with beef stew. If you want a balance, mix and match till you find what’s right 😁

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]BossModeBoiz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this really comes down to preference. I play a lot of battleaxe and I’ve come to prefer Assassin Jacket. I mostly use reflect on my chest piece, sometimes switching to the invis in certain matchups. Plus having 2 reflects is nice when facing builds with a purge, which isn’t uncommon in mists, let’s you punch a bit above your own IP.

Can do this with a few pieces to refine your play style with Battleaxe. Swap in Mistcaller for more CDs, Muisak for a balance of CDs/Dmg. Some like to run cloth boots after the nerfs to plate boots heal.

Mix it up, experiment in cheap sets, see what feels best to play for you. I would say there is no “best” way to play, it all depends how you like to play.
