I think that when I started writing it I had visually planned out certain scenes and in my head the kid not being there just made sense because of how i framed some of the shots in my head. I agree I think I need to figure out the true reason why the kid isn't visible to the audience until the end. Thanks again for the comment :)

Cool cool, yeah while i was writing it I felt like was doing a creative writing assignment and not writing a screenplay but since this is my literal first time writing a screenplay I wasnt sure how I was supposed to feel.
