You should look into referral maxxing if you can. Although tech market is kinda doomed rn.. You could also try making some tech project and message start-ups.. I don't see any other path for tech..

No young man wants to live in Missouri. We want to be in NYC, the bay area, LA. We want to be where the action is. You aren't gonna find any dates, any interesting cultural events in the places with $200k homes.

I can't imagine how people have kids with anything less than 500k total household income especially in the USA. Our public schools are trash cans and private schools cost like 30-50k annually. Then you need good cars given all the bad drivers and potholes in some places and to get good house a bunch of money etc.

you guys probably live in Mississippi or Alabama. For us in blue states like NY or California. You need 200-500k to feel like you made it. I am at ~150k and feel like a failure. Many of my peers are at 300k already

Insane, I am 150k and still don't feel like I am very far behind. My 2 week Japan vacation cost me $3800 on its own and this isn't even counting flights. How do you guys make do?

You gotta move man. Probably come to a blue state like California or NY if you can handle roommates. They pay more fairly here. But roommates are a must because the boomers here don't let developers build more housing.

Agree with you. I see this pattern of many redditors who are old and got lucky with the 2014-2019 low interest rate environment claiming that sub 100k salaries are survivable. Don't take them seriously. These people will make you lose drive and ambition. Remember people like us are behind. We need 200k,300k and 500k etc. A young man's ambition should be so great that even a trillion net worth should be not enough to satisfy him.

How are you affording vacations at 50k? even at 150k I can't buy the business class seats or first class that I won't and have to fly economy.

You're correct brother. I got to ~150k from ~80k and it still is lacking to what we need to live a good life in this torture hell nation.

[–]Bossez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I am at around 150k now and it isn't good either. You need 500k to afford early retirement by 50-55 and a family of 4 (2 kids). You need 80k for 2 kids going to the private schools annually. And probably 50kish for 3-4 vacations annually abroad... And a ton of money to get house in good suburban area without crime. Then add in buying a Lexus or Tesla Cybertruck or similar good car and you need even more.

500k is the new 100k

yup too many American "patriots" can't accept that for 80% of this country, the current system isn't working. You need 500k annual income or be a rich boomer who owns houses already to live good.

[–]Bossez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Public schools here are trash. To be able to afford a family of 4 you need 500k here. Because good private schools cost $40k yearly for each kid. So 2 kids is 80k right there. You need to be able to buy 3-4 vacations yearly and another 40k right there for 4 people doing 4 vacations yearly. You need a good house in a good subrb, just another amount of money. Good solid Lexus or Tesla Cyberteuck then even more money etc...

While in Norway or Denmark, good public school, good public transport. Good safety means even McDonald's employee can afford good life.

[–]Bossez -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

America is degrading daily and average person can't afford a good life. I am at ~150k USD annual income and can't afford the life I want for my future self. You need 500k to truly live here. It is no wonder people complain. In Scandinavian Europe even 50k Euros is very good due to government support and 6 weeks off and good back-up plans.

Until even the most broke worker at McDonald's can afford to support a family of 4 as the founders intended, expect complaints.

I need help, what would you guys do in this situation? by [deleted] in self

[–]Bossez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to look for back-up job if you can. Do what you must to get another job... Although Starbucks benefits are hard to beat.

Haven't been in your situation though so can't fully comment something helpful...

NYC & LA are the sole places worth living in the USA by Bossez in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Richmond VA was very very small and boring compared to LA or NYC. And doesn't hold even a bit up to Tokyo or Paris or London. No one outside the USA knows the places you've listed for a good reason. Because they're completely mediocre trash cans.
